Good Morning

I have had my make up done for go out for a night out. I bought the same foundation she uses. But it just do3snt go on the same.

I use flash balm underneath but foundation still seems make my skin look dry or I don't look like I am wearing any after a couple of hours, despite using powder.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks

Another vote for (clean - wash before applying makeup) fingers. Moisturised skin is very important. Try something non-greasy. Clarins does excellent moisturisers.

When getting your makeup done, always ask and take note of the products, tools and methods they’re using. It might be a moisturiser or other base she used underneath that’s made the difference.

Use a teeny tiny amount of foundation, the more you use the worse it will look. Start with less and build up. Don’t try and cover everything with foundation, add a thin layer and then go in with a concealer. Add a light layer of powder and then buff it all together with a big fluffy brush in soft circular motions.

I like to use a brush and have a variety of foundation brushes, my favourite are flat, dense buffing brushes. Apply the foundation in dots to your cheeks first then use brush to spread. This stops you applying too much. Let the base set between layers or before foundation.

Personally I only use my tigers to apply once in a while - they do bite and get cranky.....

I thought that you need either moisturiser or primer but not both?

Also I've retired sponges and brushes and have returned to fingers, applied like moisturiser, massaged in to the skin.

I like the Real Techniques expert face brush. I squirt foundation onto the back of my left hand, dot it onto my cheeks, nose and forehead, then buff it in with the brush. I like Smashbox primer, Beauty Flash Balm bobbles on me, but works brilliantly as a mask on knackered faces.

I would concentrate firstly on your skincare routine, my makeup sits much nicer now my skin is looked after better. Some days I only wear a touch of concealer under eyes & on blemishes along with a bit of flawless filter on my cheek bones & along my nose (obviously mascara, brows, bit of pink on my cheeks & a light pink lip too!) I look much brighter 👍

Forgot! I love the Real technique brushes, the essentials kit is great. I do either use brushes, blender or fingers depending on what product & how much time I have!

Definitely try a different primer, I used to use flash balm under foundation and it was a disaster. I know use Benefit Porefessional, which is great.

*Now, not know obviously!
