I can’t find a dress for my wedding! Don’t want a traditional white dress, help welcomed!

Only a few months to go! But life has been very very complicated for the last 6 months so i haven’t managed to dress hunt and have also got very unfit.

So, am looking for a fabulous dress which looks sufficiently “bridal” but ideally contains a fair bit of colour. (It’s my second wedding and I don’t really look great in white anyway!),

It needs to flatter my apple shaped figure (big belly after stressful few years Sad) and ideally won’t cost more than about £300.
Have considered hiring a dress too but haven’t found any I love yet

If you want to spend that amount the high St is your best bet. Try monsoon, Debenhams, coast.

If you're willing to spend more like £1500, try candy Anthony. Very flattering for Apple shaped figures.

GoGoGadgetGin · 20/01/2019 21:41

Long/short? Any fav eras or styles?

GoGoGadgetGin · 20/01/2019 21:43

Something like this, or do you mean bold colours?

@GoGoGadget I do quite like that Smile not sure about a high neckline as am quite large chested!

Definitely don’t want to spend more than £300. It’s only one day and we have 4 children between us so would rather spend the money on nice adventures with them Smile

Forgot to say, the bridesmaids are wearing dresses that are white at the top and a sort of dusky pink for the skirt, each is in their own individual sfu

Don’t mind whether long or shorter, but I like things that have a bit of colour and are a little bit edgy/ fun.

This is a horrible photo but I do regret not being brave enough to wear a patchwork wedding dress...

Would something like this work for you?

NeverTwerkNaked · 20/01/2019 21:59

@scream I think that’s a bit too “grown up” for me. I like things a slightly more quirky (a pop of bright colour or similar)

Maybe try the non-bridal section of Needle&Thread?

Needle and thread have lovely dresses, some are a bit much and too frilly but some are simple enough to be what you are looking for

LellyMcKelly · 20/01/2019 22:10

Most towns and cities have prom dress shops. You might be able to find something suitable there. TK Maxx also usually has a selection of weird and wonderful dresses. Zara sometimes has heavily beaded dresses which might be suitable. Alternatively, you could consider a 2 piece - pair a pink top with a coordinating flowing skirt, or talk to a local dress maker who could make you something simple and elegant.

GoGoGadgetGin · 20/01/2019 22:13

It's from. Chi chi London- they may do similar less high necky..

LellyMcKelly · 20/01/2019 22:15

Or, if you’re looking for something really sassy and glamorous there’s Lindybob who do amazing (and cheap) vintage style dresses.

Not as beautiful as needle and thread but better suited to the larger of nork. You could do as Candy Anthony do and pop a very bright petticoat underneath with beautiful matching shoes.

yakari · 20/01/2019 22:22

I was going to suggest needle and thread - try looking on OUTNET for some discounts and also they have 30% of some dresses at the moment so you could keep within budget but with something originally more expensive. Just looked and they some good options by Halston Heritsge and Alice & Olivia too for that price range.

Screamqueenz · 20/01/2019 22:26

Could you give us an idea of what colours you like, bright/muted, something to go with the bridesmaids dresses or completely different?

NeverTwerkNaked · 20/01/2019 22:32

My favourite colours are red and pink, but I’m pretty open minded.
Sorry to have such a hazy idea. I guess I would prefer it to be partly white so people have a vague clue I am the bride.

I like the look of some of the needle and thread ones, also love the candy Anthony ones with the colourful petticoat under.

Chosennone - your link - does it take anyone else to a website about the financial domination fetish community?!
I'm scared to click on anything else now 😂

itsbritneybiatches · 20/01/2019 22:54

Yes I've just gone on that website through that link
