This dress? I need shoes, a bag and some kind of fascinator or something for my hair. I’m absolutely clueless. No idea what colours or anything to go for so I’m hoping the lovely people of mumsnet can help Blush The wedding is at a very fancy venue. Is this dress even suitable?! What colour lipstick should I wear? Opinions! Thanks!

I like it! I'd do black shoes and a small black bag

A small black hat if you want (I love a hat), but I don't think you need one.

Absolutely not a fascinator! I've never seen a non-naff one.

Heymummee · 17/01/2019 23:02

Thank you! Black sounds very easy and definitely keeps my options open. No fascinator, noted! I’ve been to many weddings but this is a particularly special one so I want to make sure everything is absolutely right. Thank you

Trying asking on the style and beauty board - they will have some great suggestions.

Heymummee · 17/01/2019 23:08

Good idea. How do I move it?

I don't know, but that's a lovely dress.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 18/01/2019 16:43

Report your post and ask MNHQ to move it to S&B.

I’d get a clutch either to match the teal/blue colour of the inset, or to colour block (something like pink, purple or orange, maybe).

I’d wear it with black shoes, I think.

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 18/01/2019 16:46

Oh heh it’s already in S&B! Grin

HolgerLowCarbingLoser · 18/01/2019 17:09

Also I’d go round toe with the shoes I think, and maybe some vintage looking jewellery.

Heymummee · 18/01/2019 17:29

Thank you everyone, very helpful Smile

Think I'd go nude heels & teal bag. I think black would be too harsh. Amazing dress ! Have fun.

BiscuitDrama · 19/01/2019 08:30

I might go silver shoes actually.

DrinkSangriaInThePark · 19/01/2019 08:38

Gold shoes, gold clutch bag, no fascinator!

Tiredismymiddlename85 · 19/01/2019 08:40

I'd go black shoes, black bag and black fascinator. Not all fascinators are naff as someone has previously said - have a look in John Lewis or Accessorise as they do lovely ones.

Surfingtheweb · 19/01/2019 08:50

I think the dress is way too busy for a wedding, sorry don't want to hurt your feelings.

Jackshouse · 19/01/2019 08:53

I love the dress!

Tattybear16 · 19/01/2019 09:00

OP I own this dress and it looks amazing on, very vintage. Have a look at the top vintage website for shoes and hat ideas, I wore mine with black 1950s style t bar shoes and a black hat, Jackie Onassis style with netting, and a tulle underskirt, as the dress looks stunning. I also had a Woody Ellen vintage style bag to complete the outfit.

Artesia · 19/01/2019 09:03

Love the dress! Can I ask where it’s from?!

Tattybear16 · 19/01/2019 09:15

I think it was from Lindy Bop, I bought it online. They had it in a range of different colour fabrics. It really is lovely and the fabric is quality. And it has pockets.

LellyMcKelly · 19/01/2019 09:15

No fascinator, but a big vintage jewelled hair clip would look fab if you have the hair for it. Teal wrap/pashmina, black shoes and bag. The dress is gorgeous.

Artesia · 19/01/2019 09:44

You had me at pockets! What’s the sizing like?

BillywigSting · 19/01/2019 09:51

I would be picking up on that lovely teal bit too with teal t bar heels, teal wrap and teal gold clutch.

It's a lovely dress. A friend of mine wore a blue and green version of this to a wedding and looked absolutely stunning. She had her (red) hair done Rita hayworth style with lots of soft curls and a blue enamel hair comb.

Tattybear16 · 19/01/2019 09:54

With Lindy bop it depends on the style of the dress. This dress has a swing full skirt style so my hips and bum fit. I’m quite curvy and for me it was true to size. The fitted styles from this designer meant I needed to go up a size as usually there is no stretch in the fabric they use.

Riotingbananas · 19/01/2019 10:01

No useful advice, but just wanted to say the dress is lovely.

GrumbleBumble · 19/01/2019 10:05

Definitely get a peticote!

Heymummee · 19/01/2019 10:46

Thank you again everyone! It’s from lindybop and it’s beautiful. I have a teal net petticoat to wear underneath so it really flares out. I have a few of their dresses and they come up big in my opinion. Great value for money though, lovely quality AND POCKETS!!! I found these shoes, what do you all think? Not black, but just look at them Shock
