Please find me a dress for my mum's funeral

I need the help of you wise people as my brain has turned to mush with the events of the last few weeks. I'm so tired. Very tired.

I want a black dress that I will feel comfortable in - not too thick (menopausal), not too high around the neck or tight sleeves (think I have issues) and needs to be flattering on my fat self. I'm currently a size 18 around the hips/thighs, waist much smaller but a bit of a bloated abdomen and boob's pretty average 34e (really don't look big but bravissimo measured).

I'm trying to sort out so much stuff and look after my frail dad that I just don't have the energy to think about me and I know that on the day, my mum would be so pleased that I'd scrubbed up well for her.

Oh, and footwear please. Low heel and comfortable, preferably boot style things that I could wear again (if boot style things are appropriate for funerals?).

Sorry for your loss. What about this form baukjen? I am your size and shape - a little younger. Their jersey is very forgiving and they wash and last well.

Sorry for your loss OP Flowers
There are a few black midi dresses on asos but I thought this one might be comfortable but make you feel scrubbed up?

Or this but maybe the neck's too high.

I hope you find something suitable - I'm sure you'll do her proud.

These shoe/boots would be ok with a dress - I have some and whilst not exactly elegant they look smart with black opaque tights are mega comfortable. I can walk miles in mine ( wear them for work with dress and black tights)

The second one finger moose found is nice

Shoe boots will be fine. I've got these boots in black from m&s, which are really comfy despite the narrow heel. For some reason they're not showing in black on their website but they have them in suede and leather www.marksandspencer.com/wide-fit-kitten-heel-v-cut-shoe-boots/p/p60186401

Something like this ?
I wore something similar with black opaque tights & knee boots for my daughters funeral with a thick wrap .

I wore a boot with a cube heel as my legs were shaking so much that I couldn't walk in my shoes I'd planned to wear .

I would look at Boden clearance for this.
What will suit depends in part how tall you are, but there are a lot of midi dresses in black, some with scoop or V-necks, and some with chiffon sleeves or puff sleeves.
The Rosa and Zoe look quite good

Geox do some of the most comfortable, breathable shoes around and they last well.

Thank you for the suggestions. There are brands I hadn't thought of before. I really appreciate your input.

I'd have a look at COS, Arket, Finery, and John Lewis. Wore a COS dress for FILs funeral last year and it was perfect. I wore it with knee high boots, there was snow on the ground and I needed to be warm.

What I'd say is go for a simple dress in a shape you already know suits you that will make you comfortable. Now is not the time for fashion experiments. Oh, and get a cropped cardigan from Boden to keep you warm under your coat, graveyards are cold.

Sending condolences dear OP

I have to say for these occasions MandS is your friend for basics and stuff

But you have so much on . Could you instead do your hair on the day and upgrade an existing coat /blouse ? Just a plan. B - that’s what I did for dads funeral Flowers
