Where on earth can I find a nice dressing gown for DS13?

I was hoping DS would get a dressing gown for Xmas but he didn't so now I"m looking.

His younger brother was given a nice towelling one from M&S but M&S have sold out in store and online. I've also looked at Boden, John Lewis, Abercrombie...

He doesn't want a onesie. And he doesn't want something with cartoon characters on it obvs - it must be at least vaguely cool/inoffensive in case his mates ever see it! He's quite big so might need age 14/15.

Any ideas much appreciated!

How tall is he? I'd just buy a men's one in small that isn't full length. My DS got a navy velveteen one from M and S for Christmas last year aged 13. He was about 5 ft 6 or 7 at the time. It is fine.

Have you tried tk maxx? They always have nice ones in there.

I bought my son (13, quite tall) a men's small size dressing gown from Sainsbury's. It fits fine. I nearly always but his clothes from men's dept now, there's not much to choose from in age 14/15 etc. (I also am only buying cheap stuff atm because he keeps growing at an astonishing rate)

Debenhams

ShatnersBassoon · 12/01/2019 09:56

Definitely a small men's one at that age and size. Plain and functional.

LynetteScavo · 12/01/2019 09:57

Next online?

starlingsintheslipstream · 12/01/2019 10:01

If you think you can get away with 13-14, this is nice from Debenhams. I bought ds one for Christmas and it's lovely and soft.

Amazon? It was one of the few places I could find a towelling one last year, instead of the fake fur kind.

Primark is brilliant for anything to do with sleep and lounging.

GloatyMcGloatface · 12/01/2019 10:50

Topman. Mens small.

JudgeRindersMinder · 12/01/2019 10:53

I’ve always bought them from Next for my ds, they go up to age 16, and he’s always had a couple of years out of them. They’re quite generous in size, ds has just gone from age 16 to men’s medium-he’s grown like a weed this past year 😂

itbemay · 12/01/2019 10:58

I buy Small mens for DS age 13, much more choice and more 'grown up' in fact the last one was from primark, inexpensive and washes really well.

My teenage SS was very happy with a plain waffle robe - similar to this one from JL (there are nicer ones that are a bit more expensive)

Thanks so much all of you, I did wonder about a men's one but wasn't sure if he was a bit small. He is nearly my height (5ft 6) so actually it should be fine.

Thank you - will follow up all of these.

And yes, it's men's small for most clothes at that age.

shoofly · 12/01/2019 11:17

Primark. Not expensive, washes well and mens sizes

Fairylea · 12/01/2019 11:19

I love a nice dressing gown and I actually find the supermarket brand ones the best - Tesco is good and also George at Asda online. Next is also a good place to look, their online range is better than in store.

SerialChangerOfName · 12/01/2019 11:22

I got DS11 (5ft 1in) a men's small dressing gown from Next online.

MeetOnTheledge · 12/01/2019 11:38

I got mine (5'2") the smallest men's size in Debenhams recently. It's fluffy rather than towelling though, but he doesn't use it as a bathrobe.

Inforthelonghaul · 12/01/2019 12:31

MandM Direct had some really nice men’s ones at Xmas and very cheap so always worth a look.

IloveJudgeJudy · 12/01/2019 14:49

What I did, to make our DSs' dressing gowns special, was their initials embroidered on them.
