Please help! Theatre and nice dinner outfit for someone feeling frumpy and self conscious

I've got a lovely event planned with some very old and dear friends - theatre and then dinner and cocktails in a very nice restaurant.

I should be looking forward to it, but I'm not because I've put on weight and feel massively self conscious. Plus I'm the sort of person who always gets it wrong when it comes to clothes Sad

I can't wear heels but I'm ok with wedges or the type of chunky heel you'd get on knee length boots for example. I'm mid 40s, 5' 2", size 14-16 with fat arms and a massive stomach, where I'm always fiddling with my top to pull it over my stomach, or my trouser bands roll so they sit under my stomach and I'm just uncomfortable.

Please help me! I want to feel nice and stylish and comfortable so I can just enjoy myself on what should be a lovely occasion.

I could wear something like these for example

But not proper high heel shoes

What about a pleated midi skirt, top and biker jacket with some Stan Smith type trainers, or a dress, nice ankle boots and blazer if you’d feel more comfortable?

If you find your trouser waist bands roll under, would you be more comfortable in a dress? I'm a bit of a chubber at the moment and I'm wearing a navy knee length tunic with navy leggings and biker boots, I'm comfy but also smart. Then throw on some dramatic chunky jewellery. Have fun!

Thank you both!
