What would you recommend for newly spotty young skin? I am looking for a gentle cleansing wash and treatment.

My 15 yo son gets a few spots but just washes with mild soap and water, won’t use any other products. His girlfriend uses a lot of products aimed at teenage skin and her skin is quite bad. My son thinks the products she uses cause the bad skin. Whether he’s right I don’t know but they certainly don’t help. Lush charcoal soap and ultrabland cleanser are my go-to products. If your daughter isn’t wearing make up (at least not regularly) they’ll both last a while

Sorry - your son! Misread

Sebamed soap
Non comdegenic moisturiser
If it gets bad, doctor ASAP to reduce scarring

I’d recommend Liz Earle products or even just simple which you get in supermarkets and chemists.

My spotty 12 year old dd uses la Roche possay effaclar duo. It has great reviews. Not cleared hers up but it has improved them.

My son uses clear & clear, or st ives - both gentle scrub type cleansers, the real push us to wash face both morning and night...that will help, and drink lots of water.

Effaclar duo changed my dd's skin overnight. She is 15 now but never without it.

BookMeOnTheSudExpress · 31/12/2018 10:44

Effaclar also do a facial wash.

Use a cream cleanser and never use any foaming cleansing products on the face (as the agent that causes foaming strips and dries out the skin causing excessive oil production).
Always wash or rinse the face with tepid water never hot water as this has a drying effect on the skin.
Never turn the face directly to the shower head when you’re showering, the flow is too powerful and the temperature typically is too warm.
Use a toning fluid after cleansing. Ideally one with acid in it (don’t be alarmed as the ph of the skin is acidic - the so called acid mantle’) the acid will rebalance your skin.
Avoid mineral oils and soap on the face, as both clog pores.
Avoid mineral based make up for the same reason.
Good Things is a nice fairly inexpensive brand.
