Best Safety shoes or steel toes ever?

So, I know this will have a limited audience but there are probably a few mumsnetters who are in the same boat. I have found my perfect work shoes after nearly 20 years in industry and a very motley collection of ugly and badly fitting work boots...as a female in a predominantly male industry I am ridiculously pleased by this and feel obligated to pass the discovery forwards. I'm also looking to hear if anyone else found good women's steel toed shoes, as surely it doesnt take everyone else 2 decades to find ones which are ok to wear for more than a 30min stretch? I work in logistics and am on my feet all day, and these are the first shoes which can stand up to my 15k+ stepcount without blisters and aches.
They are called "Tolosa" from Engelbert Strauss. No idea how to add a picture, but they are almost trendy too!

Is it these? Wish I’d known about them when I had a job when I had to wear safety shoes!

Thanks! Am in the market for safety boots at the moment - this site looks great. Any idea what their returns are like?

madcatladyforever · 29/12/2018 11:20

Oh great thanks OP I am always on the lookout for good safety boots.

My OH gets hi safety boots from Oxford Safety products.

He is a size 6 skinny fit so does find it hard to find the right type. He also wears them for 12 hours a day so is wanting something light.

He's ill at the mo but will find out the make of the ones he got recently

I've needed safety boots for the last 20 years and have always found the selection available in a size 5 very insulting. My current employer has a £20 limit on safety shoes so I buy my own Doc Martens and wear them until they are worn through. (Am also looking for a new job with a company that values its staff!!).

The shoes on that link look great. I'll bookmark it for the spring. Same as you, OP, I can easily do 15k steps in a day and rarely sit down so comfortable shoes are a must.

Work provide ours but they are awful. So I used to buy my own and claim the money back.

The boots they offered didn't come in a size 4 either. Again male dominated industry.

Thankfully our safety rules have been relaxed. And we only need to wear non slip shoes now. I manage to get away with wearing all black trainers. Much more comfy.

I got some from screw fix , they are not great but way better than what was on offer !

Frescolita · 30/12/2018 15:28

@interviewee I didn't have to return or exchange as I am a very predictable 6.5/continental 40. Looking at the website they have free returns within Germany- you would probably need to ask about returns from the UK.
@Karting yes. That's the ones.

@Chair I'd forgotten about DM's...

My safety boots have arrived from Engelbert Strauss - took me a while to order, hasn’t taken this long for delivery 😀. Very very comfortable indeed. Just wanted to say thanks for the recommendation OP.

Those are actually attractive! My current pair look orthopaedic and are too big for me. I don't wear them all the time so usually forget until I need them again.
