Does fake tan smell cling to everyone after it’s washed off?

I hate the smell of fake tan. I think it’s vile - a cross between dry roasted peanuts, old digestive biscuits and stale piss. Because of this I rarely use it because I can’t stand the smell and the thought that everyone can smell that on me.

However, my friends all say that once you’ve washed it off you can’t smell it any more. That’s not true for me. I used some yesterday morning (this literally happens twice a year when I forget exactly how bad the smell is), I washed it off really well in the shower last night and used a scented moisturiser afterwards. But this morning the bed reeks of fake tan and so do I.

I tend to find that while there is still even a hint of colour on my skin I can smell it. Why is this? Does everyone just put up with it? I don’t see how they can. Or is it a chemical reaction between the tanning agent and my pheromones?

Yes, that's what it is. It stinks on me too. Even the brands that say that they don't smell. The least smelly one in my opinion is FakeBake, but it still smells a bit (on me).

Yes I find that after I shower I can still smell it slightly but I just dowse in perfume and use lots of body lotion to try and cover it up! Blush it’s not too bad for me though and no one else seems to notice, I normally get comments on how nice I smell due to the perfume shower lol. Have you tried bondi sands? I find that has less of a biscuity smell

Yip. Stinks. To high heaven on me. Cannot stand it. It's vile. And those brands that say it doesn't smell?? Rubbish. They all smell, it's the active ingredient that smells so you can't make a 'smell-less' fake tan.

I have read that it smells on some people more than others, for some biological reason. Don't know if that's true.
