Interview outfit help...don't want to look like a twit!

I am going shopping on Saturday and would appreciate any styling tips!

I have an interview next week in the public sector, in communications. Haven't worked in this field for several years (have been working in a completely different field where smart/casual is fine).

I'm thinking a dress in an interesting/bold colour and a dark jacket? Can't do properly high heels as they make my back uncomfortable and I will then look uncomfortable! So, not sure what shoes or boots with a dress? Not sure ballerinas are professional-looking.

Want to avoid boring black trouser suits!

Open to any other outfit suggestions!

I'm a size 10 and medium height.

Your outfit suggestion sounds fine to me, wear with mid or low heels if you don’t like high. I work in professional services and the only women I know who wear very high heels are support staff.

Flats are absolutely fine. Depending on the style of the dress, ankle boots, brogues, loafers. Good luck!

Thank you both @FairytaleOfWigan @thedevilinablackdress Smile

My days of striding happily around an office all day on 4-inch stilettos are in the distant past!

I usually go for a really good pair of black tailored trousers and a nice top. I do take my heels and switch from my flats before going in - it’s a habit!

Minimal jewellery and makeup. Big smile. Good luck!
