What tights do you wear with party dress?

Black party dress just above knee, can’t do bare legs.
What tights do people wear these days?

What shoes? what kind of party -disco, house party etc?
I'd personally go for opaque tights if a more subdued party and some sheer black ones for a disco. Or some very dark plum ones

Its in a hotel, dinner then a disco. Shoes are black mid heel, closed toe.

I never wear tights. Make my legs feel funny. So I just freeze.

For posh - nude tights (Asda George with tummy hold in panel usually) for less posh opaque.

Fake tan normally, but if you can't do bare legs (do you mind if I ask why?) then nude tights.

I have inflammatory arthritis and it’s affected my legs (& my confidence) so I hate showing my legs especially in the pale of winter.

These responses remind me that I didn't grow up in the Uk. It's December - how can you go bare legged?

Ah, okay. Would you go with sheer tights then maybe? They'd look a bit dressier than opaques, but not as revealing as a nude pair.

I'm in exactly the same situation op and I'm wearing nude tights. Navy blue velvet dress, nude tights, low, black closed toe kittens.. No way I'd go bare legged in winter!

Opaques, I live in the north of England and I feel the cold.

Don't care what I look like but there is no way I'd go bare legged, that is reserved for the height of summer.

Thanks all. I think I might go for nude. Need to buy today, party is tonight! Any recommendations please for particular ones? What denier should I be looking for? And what colour description; nude, natural, tan??? So many to choose from. I have a Boots near me so thinking of looking in there.

I’m wearing a similar dress (maybe a bit shorter) and am wearing 40 dernier black tights. Legs not fake tanned enough to go bare legged (it’s this afternoon) and I already had the tights so don’t have to buy new - tried them on wth it and they look fine

I have not worn a dress to our office party for around 10 years but having lost 3 1/2 stone this year I plan to wear one this time! At 50 plus I have only every worn black tights so this has all been a revelation. So black is out now?
