Blackheads and large blocked pores on nose

I'm a 45 year old woman and my skin care routine consists of cleaning my face with a bit of shower gel or soap while I'm in the shower of a morning and then putting on an spf15 Olay moisturiser (can't remember which one but it's probably just a basic day cream) when I get out.

This routine has served me well for many years but now I'm noticing more and more that my skin needs something else. I have quite a few black heads and the pores on my nose are huge and look dirty.

I assume I need some sort of exfoliating wash and a clay mask perhaps? Can anyone recommend some brands to try?

you need this thread moved to sporner corner and you need a sterilised pin. no washing product in the world will do anything with a large blocked pore. it needs physical force.

I wouldn't try and force the pores. You want Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid. This is an oil soluble exfoliating toner which will help remove the blackheads. Use 2-3 times a week and gradually increase as not to overpower the skin

Get over to Sporners with a photo. They'll sort you out.

Thanks, I'll investigate the Paula's Choice stuff. Don't think I'm ready for sporners corner yet!

Second Paula's choice. Also google sebaceous filaments. They might not be blackheads (mine aren't) but the BHA Paula's choice has changed mine a lot

Apply a 2% Salicylic acid product for 30 minutes to dissolve the gunk in pores.

Then a good clay/charcoal mask to suck out the gunk.

Product recommendations would be:
Garden of Wisdom Salicylic Adid Serum
or
Bravura Salicylic Acid,
plus
Madara Smart Anti-Pollution Charcoal and Mud Repair Mask
or
Yes to Tomatoes Charcoal Detoxifying Mud Mask

Hi Op I had this issue and was using nose strips and scrubs, peel off masks. None of it made a real difference.

I switched to glycolic acid from superdrug's own range (v cheap, v good) and the transformation in my skin is amazing. I alternate morning (and if i can be bothered evening) use of this - glycolic acid toner and it costs less than 3 quids - and the ordinary salcylic acid 2% £4.20 which is cheaper than Paula's choice and has the same active ingredient (Salcylic Acid) although, Paula's has other good ingredients mixed in, the ordinary is just salcylic acid (which is fine if you will moisturise afterwards as salcyclic can be drying). I bought mine from here

A couple of times a week I apply a glycolic overnight peel again from superdrug: here which is at £2.95 a bargain!

I have used the highly rated glycolic pads by nip and fix. My skin felt tight and irritated by them and I saw no improvement BUT many say it works for them. So you have that too to try if you like.

Do keep in mind that your skin will be more sensitive to UVA and UVB damage so apply a sunscreen of 5 stars or more for both UVA and UVB in the day time.

Once or twice a week I use the Aztec clay treatment here it's nearly a tenner BUT lasts AGES. I got easily 20 masks worth from it and I was skimming. It's powdered and you mix it with water (instructions on container, loads of youtube reviews on it).

For instant effect, maybelline baby pores tub is alright. It sort of applies a soft focus blurrey layer on your skin so you can see the blackheads but they look smaller and less obvious. I suppose a good primer or foundation would do the same but I'm still on the look out and haven't tried that many as I prefer bare skin.

I wasN'T skimming
