can I dye now and go grey gracefully in 20 years' time?

Having watched my mum stay un-grey into her 70s and seen her in a root related cycle that she doesn;t know how to break I have always said I'll never dye. But I looked at my streaks of grey this morning and they really made me shudder. I'm too young to go grey. {strppy lip-out emoticon] If I do dye what happens when I hit 60? Do I just have to grow it out and look ridiculous or can they fade the dye and let me go grey slowly iyswim?

my mum is 65 and dyes and still looks great, well her hair does at least her face is evidence of what smoking 30 a day does but her hair looks great - smells like shite though

Blimey I went grey well, partly grey, at 26 and 10 yrs on still dying it and plan to forever!
I think depending on your skin tones, most people seem to dye it lighter and lighter into their fifies, sixties and on. Highlights must be the way forward then?
