Please can you wise ladies help. I am panicking over my choice of dress for my partner's Christmas do (Saturday) I have just re read the invitation and it states black tie and cocktail dress. It took me ages to find something I feel comfortable in but I am now thinking that a cocktail dress should be short rather than full length? I planned to wear it with silver sandals and a navy chiffon cover up. Do you htink it will be ok or do I need to look for something else (I am very uncomfortable dressed up) Thanks for your help.

Look at m&s they have loads of suitable dresses.....

Dunno mate, I prefer the original blue one. That black one looks a bit dull (which I'm gathering isn't your style)

Oh my gosh it's a Christmas do! I regularly have to attend (dire) formal do's and the abundance of plain black midi dresses is depressing. Your style choice is beautiful, the first and second, with a pair of heels and a clutch it's more than appropriate for an Xmas do. Cringe, but be yourself there's nothing wrong with being 'different'. Ask your hubby what he thinks if you're unsure? After all he knows his own work lot. But I'd say go for it and if the first is silk I'd say that's formal enough Wine

You're right there halfwitpicker black and dull is not my style

easielouise I have never minded being 'different' so not sure why I have my knickers in a knot over this!
