Perfumes like Poison. But how it used to be...

I love a strong, heavy, heady perfume.

My all time favourite is poison, the original 1980/1990's version is the holy grail for me, I have half a bottle (25 precious, precious ml) from 1988 on the way to me and I am so hoping it smells like i remember it. It will be a precious treasure only brought out for special occasions if it is.

Other favourites are LouLou, Eden and Freak by illamasqua. I have tried alien by mugler and found it a touch too aniseed-y. Essentially I want to smell like how I imagine a witch would smell, all incense-y and mysterious.

I've recently got back into perfumes and I'm on the look out for new ones to add to my collection so come at me with your recommendations! Thanks in advance.

Guerlain's Mitsouko - very Oriental, and heady. An oldie and goodie.

I still wear Opium for evenings out. DH once bought me the black opium but I didn't like it much .

Shalimar? That was very distinctive.

I love Poison too. A night time perfume for me.

Dolce Vita by Dior, DH and DM hate the smell of it but I love it. Bought a bottle last month after 15-20 years.

Fracas de Robert Piguet? It's certainly heady, not sure if it's witchy enough for you but it's certainly 80's romance to me.

Black Opium?

Opium, ghost (the moon shaped bottle) and from your description I think you would love sun,moon,stars by Karl Lagerfeld. It's quite expensive but it worth it. Gives me the same warm feeling as poison does

do you mean strong or deep, warm, interesting. Opium on me is warm and deep - try Mitsouko?

( I mean do you want people to enter a room that you're in and go "blimey what's that" or when they get near to you to go "oooh, what's that".)

You can! It's still lovely but it's not the same as it was. It's not quite as potent. It fades very quickly. But still a beautiful scent.

I used to love deep night but they did something to it and it smells dreadfully synthetic on me now. So sad. I will check out Sun, Moon, stars, I've heard good things about that!

I had a spritz of Opium today, it was ok, a bit to much like cologne for me. I also had a spritz of LouLou and Eden and I am so disappointed at how much they have changed after being reformulated. Curse reformulation! Hypnotic poison is nice too. I came home with lots of little test strips to sniff.

In other news, my vintage poison has been shipped and I am very excited about it.

Would def recommend trying a spritz of Mitsouko if you get a chance - not quite what it was as they had to reformulate when think it was civet stuff that had to be taken out. But nothing quite like it on the right skin. (going by seasonal colouring - are you a Winter?)

I am! Well a pretty even split with an autumn thanks to my stubbornly rosy cheeks and reddish brown natural hair colour (I dye it black). I wear a lot of black, a lot of silver accessories and I'm very pale.

I really miss Nu by Yves Saint Laurent. I like my perfume strong and intense and I want to be able to smell it on myself all day please.
