Anyone know anything about porosity of hair?

After a bit of research and hair testing I think that I probably have low porosity hair.
Only problem is that most of the sites that have recommendations are American and so the products are all pretty expensive to get here. I've spent way too much a little more than I usually would online on some shampoo and conditioner to test my theory, but I really need to find cheaper alternatives- anyone know of anything a bit more budget friendly I can get here in the UK?

I'm just adjusting my hair routine for low porosity too. I bought fullers earth and apple cider vinegar for cleansing mask and jojoba oil for heat treatment - all pretty cheap but I don't know how successful they will be yet. Pantene clarifying shampoo works well for me when hair gets stiff and sticky. I'd be glad to hear other UK suggestions too.

Ooh yes, I might have to make myself some potions too! I did this back when I first discovered the curly girl method with some success. My hair kept looking a bit stringy and lank though so I gave up, looking back I think it was probably due to the low porosity. I just found this article which has inspired me- her hair is beautiful and she gives product recommendations I can get hold of because she's from Scotland. Found lots on her instagram too and have ordered Shea moisture JBCO restore shampoo, Shea Moisture gel cream, Low Porosity Protein Free Conditioner by Shea Moisture and Aunt Jackies Moisturizing and Softening Shampoo. I may have got a little carried away Blush

I've got hair like herself in the article. I use a couple of cheap but good products that are available in the UK.

  1. Johnson's baby shampoo. It's now the only one I use. I also use it on my daughter's very low porosity, wavy hair.
  1. Boots Curl Creme.

I sort of follow Curly Girl techniques but with whatever conditioner we have in the house.
