Has anyone actually bought a bra there?
Should I put it on my list of grown up things to do?

Azure · 23/06/2007 17:54

My friend gets all her bras made to measure there, but then she's a 28DD so it's difficult to get them elsewhere.

ahundredtimes · 23/06/2007 17:54

Oh yes, is very very grown-up. I thought it terrifying though, you get man handled by these VAST women in sensible dresses who tut at you a lot, well they did at me. Then you run for it, but you are much much better positioned for the running than when you went in.

Gingermonkey · 24/06/2007 16:43

does anyone know if they do really tiny no boob sizes too? I get my bras at agent provocateur but am really disapppointed with the quality recently, some of my bras from 4 or more years ago are out living the recent purchases. I am a 34 AA but wear an AP 'a' cup (usually).

Rigby and Peller are bloody fantastic. The shop assistants (who are all shapes and sizes themselves - no snooty twiglets here) know exactly what size you are at a glance, and return to your cubicle with armfuls of fabulous bras that fit so well, you don't know you're wearing them. Not all the bras are expensive, either - tell them your budget and they'll work with it. Whether it's everyday underwear (you'll be amazed at how much better a great bra makes you look) or something special, they have everything. They don't only stock their own bras - they have hundreds of makes, from all over Europe and the USA. I love them, I think everyone ought to go at least once to see how comfortable your underwear should be!!

Gingermonkey · 24/06/2007 17:07

They don't seem to have any AAs but I think I'm going to go and see what they say next time I am in London. Can you just go in or do you need to make an appointment? I lurve bra shopping!!!!!!!

satine · 24/06/2007 17:13

As long as it's not a Saturday morning, when you might face quite a wait, you can usually just drop in. I'm sure they would have something for you, Ginger. There is another branch as well, just off Bond Street, I think.

Gingermonkey · 24/06/2007 17:41

I never go on a saturday - can't be doing with the crowds!!!! I know I've seen one on my wanderings about near Bond Street, can't remember if it was on South Moulton St (near Browns) or Conduit Street though. I'll have a little look.......

Gingermonkey · 24/06/2007 17:44

....conduit street it is. It's near the Vivienne Westwood shop. I'm very exciting about the prospect of more bras DH once gave me a £500 budget to spend in AP and I spent £800 He was not a happy man. I get overexcited by all the pretty things, I dread to think what'll happen when DD gets some boobs, the poor girl will have to go underwear shopping every week!

sophy · 24/06/2007 18:51

They are good for small sizes too. I'm an A and got a fabulous wedding bra there, which I still wear 7 years later.

LynetteScavo · 24/06/2007 20:56

Thats a great website - it even has an 'advice for men' section, advising men on how to choose a bra for a women. Genius!

satine · 25/06/2007 21:45

Wow, ginger, how lucky are you, getting £500 to blow in AP? Mind you, it wouldn't have gone far, no wonder you went over budget!
It's definitely my favourite shop. The girls are gorgeous, the shop just oozes sex appeal and the underwear is just fabulous.
Oh, the days when we had lots of money.....

Gingermonkey · 26/06/2007 07:59

exactly satine, - £500 did not go far I was perfectly entitled to blow the budget!!!! The best AP is probably manchester, the fitting room is a huge boudoir with a big bed in the middle. The Leeds one is a bit rubbish - too small and the staff aren't that great, the best staff are Pont Street and the window displays are the best in there too (can you tell I spend too much time looking at knickers!!! ) I am just disappointed with the quality recently, the lace is scratchy and cheap and the sizing all over the place.
