Please inspire me! I want sophisticated but a little bit (work appropriate!) sexy. I hate my arms, so need sleeves. Also hate tummy, bum and legs, so no body con or bare legs. I don't know what to buy, and im going to be surrounded by long-legged model-like creatures. PLEASE help me! xx

You can wear bodycon just go up a size. Or ruching in tummy area/faux wraps good. I'm currently into phase eight on sale, Dorothy Perkins curve on budget and always get compliments in Laura Ashley dresses. Can't post my Xmas party dress as it's last season jan sale but it's a phase eight plum maxi dress

There was another thread about stretchy velvet shift dresses that are around at the mo and I thought I'd have bought one of those if I needed a new dress, little bit sexy, little bit sophisticated without trying too hard or revealing too much

Sorry my app won't let me post pics. This is the Laura Ashley cut that always gets the compliments thought this one looks a bit warm for a party

I really like the tops with (subtle) sheer sleeves that are around at the moment.

Boden do a few nice ones e.g Violette Top or Hazel Top

Think they would look nice with some skinny/fitted trousers and a pair of cute mid-low height heels.

Thanks all! There's some lovely stuff there - am taking myself off to the shopping centre tomorrow!

Am also thinking about some sort of sparkly blazer/jacket with skinny (ha ha!) jeans & heels, if anyone's seen anything nice around! xx

I'm wearing a dark floral 50s style dress I got from ASOS yonks ago, but this is similar: www.ladyvlondon.com/hepburn-baroque-roses
With a long cardigan to cover my arms and some gold antler hairclips, black tights and sneakers. I usually belt it but I know there's three courses in my future! It's a lunch rather than a dinner though, but I'd just swap out my sneakers for ankle boots or sparkly loafers.

I've just worn this for a wedding. I'm not a fan of 50s clothes so I just didn't style it that way. It was really comfortable and covered my arms and knees which I hate. They do quite a few different styles so definitely worth a look.
