Recommendations wanted for a budget friendly foundation that actually lasts!!! I've tried bourjois healthy mix, all the Rimmel ones, I've tryed Revlon colourstay in normal/dry and no 7 stay perfect and the matte version. I can't find the one!!!! I see all these woman on socials looking amazing with foundation that appears to last all day and when I put mine on I'm lucky if I get a few hrs!!

Maybelline fit me foundation, the matte version is very good on oily skin.

The primer that really works for me is Loreal Infallible Mattifying Primer. I have a MUA mattifying primer also but that is too mattifying for me and doesn't actually make makeup last as long as the Loreal one.

Beebumble2 · 26/11/2018 18:17

Bourjois Foundation healthy mix serum has really good coverage without feeling heavy. Good price and easily available.

MikeUniformMike · 26/11/2018 20:09

Which one is the Primark one please? There was only one in my local shop and some stick ones but there was a range of colours.

bdyekdo · 26/11/2018 20:15

I have oily skin and use the rimmel matte primer (the blue one) which is £6ish, revlon stay foundation which is £13 and a makeup revolution powder not sure which one but its £4/5. I wore my makeup for 15 hours once and only my nose was a bit shiny. A bit of powder/blotting paper and I could have lasted a few more hours I think.

I have also heard good things about the makeup revolution foundation (£9) and the nyx foundation called can't stop or something like that (£15)

Hope this helps! :)

Beautifullymixed · 26/11/2018 21:42

I love the rimmel fix and perfect primer (£5), it's so smoothing and hydrating without leaving your skin oily.
Whatever foundation I use goes on so smoothly over it.

My oily yet dehydrated skin looks and feels so much better with a hydrating primer on, rather than a matte one.
Matte primers can leave my skin tight, flaky and irritated, with the foundation looking cakey and patchy.
I much prefer a skin like finish that I have to blot later on, but looks natural.

Beautifullymixed · 26/11/2018 21:55

bdye I have both the Revolution conceal and define foundation and the fast base foundation stick.
Both are awesome!

The stick blends like butter with a damp sponge, and gives great coverage with the nicest glow.
I do have to blot and powder with this foundation though, but it lasts surprisingly well.

The liquid foundation is matte, although blends extremely well too, and also has great coverage.
I mix it with the very dewy maybelline smooth and dewy foundation (which is a perfect colour match for me), and this also lasts all day.
I do go carefully with the powder with this one, as it can dry me out.

I have stocked up on these two at Beauty Bay , as the stick foundation is £3.50, and the liquid foundation is £6.50! Shock
Bargain of the century.

Beautifully glad you like it! I was considering buying after my current foundation runs out as it's cheaper lol nice to hear another positive review. I have the concealer which i love (and I'm glad they brought out the bigger sizes)!!

APositiveMind · 27/11/2018 18:13

Try a primer, I wouldn't use a primer daily and I'm massively into my makeup. But foundation wise I really love maybelines 24hr foundation. It has full but not cakey coverage, dries pretty quickly and doesn't feel sticky to touch and even putting powder in top doesn't make it look thick on your skin.

whymewhyme · 27/11/2018 18:42

Thanks for all the recommendations!!! I've been to Superdrug! Brought the Rimmel matte primer, bourjois healthy mix foundation and concealer and revolution liquid foundation and the revolution original setting spray!

Ooooh OP - that's a haul!

I wore the revolution conceal and define foundation today, and I kept touching my skin as it was so smooth.
Go easy on it though, especially around the nose, and ensure your skin is well hydrated beforehand.

I didn't get on with the rimmel matte primer, as I found foundation very hard to blend over it.
I absolutely adore the rimmel fix and perfect primer (blue lid), and maybe try this if the matte is too drying.

I may have three revolution setting sprays, and use them according to how dry my skin is, or how long lasting I want my makeup to be. They are such a bargain.

whymewhyme · 02/12/2018 18:46

Well the healthy mix foundation makes me shine AF!

FallenAngel89 · 02/12/2018 18:51

The Barry M ones are quite good :)

Beautifullymixed · 02/12/2018 21:51

whyme did you try the Revolution foundation yet?
Was it this one?

whymewhyme · 02/12/2018 22:03

@Beautifullymixed I did it's too drying in my skin unfortunately! Looks like the search continues for me!

OP posts:
Beautifullymixed · 03/12/2018 04:36

whyme that's a shame!
This is going to prove rather costly for you.

Did you use a hydrating primer underneath, or even a drop of non greasy oil such as jojoba, or grapeseed?
You could try mixing it with a tiny bit of radiance cream or again, a drop of oil.

What about mixing it with the healthy mix serum, if that is too oily?
Lastly, did you use a damp sponge to apply, as the moisture helps it apply smoothly?

It seems a shame to not try everything before writing off two bottles of foundation - however cheap to purchase.

WyrdSisterWeatherwax · 03/12/2018 07:21

I use Maybelline Superstay Primer then Max Factor Lasting Performance foundation and then use a dry sponge to apply Lily Lolo mineral foundation as a setting powder.

Lasts me all day at work or a night out without needing touched up.

Elledorado · 03/12/2018 08:23

L'oreal infallible pro matte works well for me. I use ordinary moisturiser underneath, Essence setting powder over top

whymewhyme · 03/12/2018 08:24

I'm going to have play this week! I can't give up just yet! Lol
