Best place to get boobs measured?

I need to get boobs measured, as my bra's basically don't feel "right". I've never had them measured before and wondering where to go?

Thanks

Are you large of nork? If so Bravissimo or Rigby & Peller

rebelmum1 · 21/06/2007 16:17

Not M&S takes ages and they got it wrong for me - go to a private specialist lingere shop

jofeb04 · 21/06/2007 16:17

Around a C, is that small or large? lol

Not even sure if there is a Rigby & Peller locally tbh!

If large, Bravissimo. I went in today a 34G and left a much perkier 34FF - Practically a free boob job. Result!

bookthief · 21/06/2007 16:18

Sorry, that should read 34H down to a FF - even more impressive

jofeb04 · 21/06/2007 16:18

Why is it only in London?

Bravissimo - if you're more than a C cup. They won't measure you. They'll look at the bra your wearing and magically "know" what size you should try.

Be prepared to give it a little time trying on different styles, but when you find the right one it's an amazing feeling.

ejt1764 · 21/06/2007 16:19

Echo the not M&S statement ... the last time I got measured there they told me I was a 36B ... and then wondered why none of the bras fit me ... I'm a 34F!

Would suggest Bravissimo if you can get to a shop, but they are pretty good at taking back returns if you go through mail order.

bookthief · 21/06/2007 16:20

Go to an old fashioned independent lingerie shop if you have one locally. You want one of those slightly intimidating "older" ladies that can take one look at you and tell you your bra, shoe and hat size.

Thanks for the info. Going to go shopping Saturaday

Got to go to rigby and peller
they are absolutely fab..... when I went they put you in the most fab cubicle - take off top, then they just look at your back ..... and say ..... you're a size // blah de blah!!! amazing

Although they do have some very expensive stuff they also do others which are reasonable...... a must .... if going to London.

toomanydaves · 22/06/2007 11:34

Another bravissimo fan, went in 36dd and came out 32 FF!

FANTASTIC.

oggsfrog · 22/06/2007 11:43

Can I just ask a question. I know you don't think M&S are any good, but they are the only place I can go.

What confuses me is that they measure you while you are wearing a bra, but if the bra you are wearing doesn't fit properly then surely that will mess up the measurements. Not so much back size, but surely cup size???

katepol · 22/06/2007 11:45

What about those of us in the B to C range? Will these stout older ladies look at our less statuesque proportions in a dismissive manner?

Seriously, where can smaller sizes get measured, as I agree that M&S are amatuers and I know I am not wearing the right size (and I have bras in two back sizes and cup sizes and none are right!
).

Nip · 22/06/2007 12:02

I am confused by M&S too - when i last went they wanted to see me in my current bra.. then said "oh yes, its too small"... then proceeded to get me to try on at least 30 bras of all different sizes... i left with 2 really crap looking bras which i dont think are perfect now...

I would love to have some expert advice too, because i feel so frumpy...

oggsfrog · 22/06/2007 12:06

Nip - how apposite

I found the M&S experience OK. Had to try on a number of styles until I found the one for me. Went in wearing 36C and found out I was a 32DD! Blimey what a difference!

dollyk · 23/06/2007 17:33

there is a great shop at the side of harrods that brillant I can not remeber the name it will come to me

dollyk · 23/06/2007 17:34

something and peller ?
still thinking

dollyk · 23/06/2007 17:44

rigby & peller you can get your bras made as well

Guitargirl · 23/06/2007 18:00

Selfridges

Nip · 25/06/2007 10:34

FYI - Got measured at the weekend at Bravissimo - was very impressed with the service and the girl didnt rush and let me try on as many as i wanted!

Bras arent that cheap but at least they fit...

Aufish · 25/06/2007 11:05

Can I just jump onto this thread, my DD is now at a stage where she needs a bra and I have no idea where to take her, not going to M&S from everything I've seen on here. Are Debenhams any good?

brimfull · 25/06/2007 11:23

john lewis are better than debenhams ime,but debenhams much better than M&S.
It all is subject to the person you get really though.
Most people get it wrong by having too big a back siaze and too small a cup.Basically all your support comes from the strap around your chest so it needs to be tightish but comfy. The old way of measuring and adding 5inches is crap.
I would say measure your back and try the nearest size to your measurement.Good fitting guide here that smaller norked can use aswell.
