T shirts. Why are they crap?

I need plain v neck t shirts, preferably longer length. I can't find any that aren't total crap, really thin, odd shapes. Anyone any idea where I could find some?

Is that you Hully? I had to check to make sure this wasn't an old thread!

I think reason T shirts are so hard is we expect so much and pay so little. This includes me so I'm not having a pop at anyone. We want them to be soft and in a natural, non sweaty fabric cos they're next to the skin but then we go and hammer the hell out of them and expect them to survive.

The best one I've had was from Toast. I wept at the cost but I'm still wearing and washing and hammering it six years later. Also People Tree and I second / third Lands End for quality although I'm not keen on the shapes and the necklines are never right for me. I used to rate H&M but not any more. I've heard good things about Cos ones but never tried.

But then again one of the best Ts I've ever had was a Primark pima cotton one I bought in a charity shop. But they were probably on sale for one weekend before they sacked the supplier.

The Cotton Story are good quality and wash well. I have this and am happy with it

My favourite t shirts are from &Other Stories. Crew neck and v neck are both great. They wash amazingly well too.

The Cotton Story looks a great company. I was keen to give them a try till I saw that the biggest size goes nowhere near my 32h bust....

I agree that Gap have been rubbish. But this year, the plain v neck long sleeves are so good, I have bought extras to stockpile for next year. Thick, soft, good shape and wash brilliantly.

Sonotkylie thanks for the Gap long sleeved tip. I was looking at my (at least) 10 yr old Uniglo ones and thinking they've really seen better days!

I like Hush V neck T-shirts. Expensive and not many colours but wash well.
