I have got to go to my husband's cricket club summer ball on Saturday night and I have nothing to wear. I'm still carrying all of my baby weight 9 months later and am a size 20 (although will start the cambridge diet as soon as stop bf at 12 months). Do you think I can get away with black trousers and a sparkly top for a black tie do?
On another style issue have a job interview tomorrow and my sister has just poo-pooed me wearing a light blue linen summery suit.... is that wrong?

The ball outfit sounds ok so long as they are smart evening trous not (eg) work trous you are trying to glam up. Heels will help.

To my eyes the blue suit is more of a wedding / occasion suit but with a crisp white blouse and formal businessy matching shoes and bag you may get away with it.

it is officially an occasion suit but I quite liked it and it didn't make me feel too hideous when I put it on... Was going to wear white shirt with it as you suggest and worky bag and shoes.

ball is a really mixed bag - mostly short dresses rather than long. last time we went I wore a black strapless short prom dress type but that is in the section of my wardrobe I am not allowed to look in at the moment! I do have a mid length black skirt with sequins from monsoon - that might do the trick - thanks ll forgotten completely about that.
might ditch the blue suit then and wear safe grey charcoal pin stripe instead with coloured shirt. job is corporate but not lawyer type, more consultancy, project management type instead. i tried the white version of the suit on but thought that was way to katie hopkins apprentice stylie!
