my carpet smells of dog. I usually use shake n vac but shops ahve run out and I can smell it - do you think a crumbled up washing powder tablet would do the trick?

Not sure about that but do you have any bicarbonate of soda in the cupboard. That would do the trick.

bicarb will absorb the smell make sure you hoover it well as it will go gunky if it gets wet!
Alternativlt diluted zolora will kill germs smell nice!
Ps i got rid of dog not the carpet (for reasons other than he smelt! plus he went good home!)
