Your loves and hates

Thought it might be fun to see what everyone loves and hates to see trend/fashion wise!

I love anything with lace/broderie anglaise, smock dresses, nice neat leather monk shoes, simple but girly/pretty jewelry in RG or silver only, designer handbags (I have a gorgeous plum chloe faye Grin) blouses with pussycat bows and anything with an unusual pattern.

I hate the new ‘athleisure’ trend, cheap handbags with metal link straps, sportswear being worn as normal clothes/fashion, the revival of 90s gear, teddy bear coats, cheap bodycon, cold shoulder (cut out ones, not bardot) tops/dresses (ugh, chavvy!)

Well this got off to a good start Confused

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 15:44

@Nettletheelf Doesn’t matter the price/designer, I just think the chain link type straps look cheap! Eg I love a Chanel bag but wouldn’t buy one (tbf I can’t afford one, but...) because of the chain strap - just one of those niggly things I dislike as a design feature! Just like people disliking tassels etc! Grin

🙄

Pimpernell · 22/11/2018 16:03

I like black black and more black!

Me too. Black gives me the horn.

Not a fan of kitsch prints, Lindybop style stuff, skintight bodycon dresses, peplums, and brogues.

Calzone · 22/11/2018 16:12

I like jeans and T-shirt’s with a blazer.
I like scarves and accessories.
I love warm winter clothes and hats with boots

I hate leopard print, cold shoulder tops, backless dresses, clothes with logos, sports wear for every day use and stupidly high shoes.

Bluntness100 · 22/11/2018 16:26

Apart from possibly jewellery from your list i deeply dislike everything on your list, pussy cat bows, patterns, smocks, it's just all too fussy or unflattering/shapeless.

Personally I like one colour, clean lines, unfussy, well fitting, well cut clothes. Anything fussy, girly, cluttered, shapeless, isn't my thing at all.

In terms of handbags, yes mine are mid expensive, like Lk bennet or furla, but I don't do designer handbags, again I prefer them to be more discreet. My jewellery also tends to be relatively expensive but under stated.

So I'd say we are probably opposites.

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 18:19

@Bluntness100 I like a discreet handbag too, furla are lovely! Not a big fan of monogram prints, I like the leather/quality/design to speak for itself! Hence the Chloe Faye - people don’t tend to know unless they know iyswim, which imo is much nicer than a flashy monogram speedy or the like! Smile

@Calzone Oh gosh yeah leopard print! Had a bit of a revival this season - not sure why? I don’t like it much tbh, although I wouldn’t suit it anyway so!

Overuse of the exclamation mark is about as chavvy as can be.

Bluntness100 · 22/11/2018 18:31

To be honest, I don't like any animal print, or basically any print, but particularly animal print, and cold shoulder tops are awful 😱

Octopus37 · 22/11/2018 18:32

I love leopard print, patterned leggings, anything with sequins, camaflauge prints, lace, velvet, short A-line skirts, leather look skirts, colour blocking, zebra print, non-natural hair colours. I hate, baggy, frumpy clothes, not keen on high waists cause they don't suit me, dont like track suit bottoms or anything too classic. I love heels and pointy toes in theory but they kill my feet so I am happier in flat shoes.

thelittlesquidge · 22/11/2018 18:53

@Bombardier25966 It’s really not that serious pal 😂

OP Exactly! I dressed up as Professor Snape for Halloween, wish I could do it more often... Grin

Oh, I forgot to mention scarves! I love scarves! Floaty ones in the summer and proper thick snuggly ones in winter. Smile

thelittlesquidge · 23/11/2018 08:11

@SapphireSeptember Scarves are really wondrous things! I love gettig bundled up and toasty with one now it’s getting so damned cold. What a fab Halloween costume, the last time I got to wear a cape/robe was at the HP studio tour a couple of years ago - feeling the need to go again!

I love lots of different things: Smocks & boho dresses with flat sandals for summer/holiday eg denim shorts, K Jacques & a loose embroidered top.
Animal print particularly zebra & big faux fur/feather jackets particularly in winter eg black jeans, tshirt & animal print jacket.
Clean lines/structured dress shapes with loafers & brogues for work so Cos dress with patent shoes.
40s style slinky dresses or sequins for parties eg long silk dress & sandals.
Athleisurewear & trainers for day to day & weekend dressing eg jeans, hoodie (smartish one) & silver stan smiths, comme de garçon converse etc.
Even like a bit of label bashing eg Gucci.
Like little simple jewellery day to day but also like Marni style stuff & more wow (fake) for weddings.

Don’t like & will never wear:
Pussy bow blouses
skater skirt/dress
Bandage bodycon dress (would do skirt)
Puma or sketchers
crop tops
sleeveless knitwear
PU bags
off the shoulder
bardot neck
deep v necks
court shoes particularly in nude
checks & most florals
overfussy things eg a black leather skirt with ruffles, pockets etc.
crocs
birkies
chain anklets
chokers
bum showing denim shorts

madnessIsay · 23/11/2018 09:36

& cold shoulder tops!

Jumping on to express my dislikes!
I'm 22 and literally hate everything 'trendy right now. I'm a size 10-12, with 34G boobs. Everything is plunge, tight, cropped and cut out, low back. I cannot wear any of it. Well I probably could but I can't pull it off, I know the whole where what you want and don't be judged deal. But seriously I cannot wear it. If it fits it looks horrendous. I'm insanely jealous of proportionate ladies.

I live in jeans that are either too tight on my thighs and fit great on my waist or ones that fit my thighs but fall down at my wait and give me that horrible back gap, jumpers and regular length tops.

I want to be trendy but I would definitely make crop tops pornographic with my nipples slipping out the bottom of the seam.
