Teen/tween boys shoes - where?? Not school shoes or trainers...

Where??

Son is 11. Walks at least 3 miles a day, sometimes nearer 5. Would really really like some nice solid winter shoes - ideally waterproof. We always used to get him Geox/Camper/Clarks/StartRite lovely children's winter shoes - but he's now a size 7.5 (40-41) and none of their children's ranges go anywhere near high enough.

No uniform, so not looking for school shoes. And trainers aren't a bit waterproof. Where to look???

Hiking shoes from an outdoor shop.

yes I guess hiking shoes probably are best. I was hoping to get something lighter... it just seems crazy that you can't buy nice kids' shoes at ELEVEN. Well, ten - same problem last year, but he's got a longer walk now...
I can't find anything on Schuh - so many of these websites don't distinguish a child 7 from an adult 7, which makes searching basically impossible...

His feet are now adult size, so you need to forget about children's shoes and look in adult shops. Ask him what his friends are wearing. My DS wants Doc Marten's but they're too pricey for me.

good idea - I'll get him to look around. I think they're all in trainers...

Mine has been wearing Karrimores from Sports Direct since he grew out of Geox. I find them a good price and are lightweight but hard wearing. And some styles go up to a 16 which is handy as mine has been the same shoe size as his age for a while now, so 11 when he was 11 and 14 now he is 14.
