Where would you go for non brand specific skincare advice/consultation?

I've been loyal to Dermalogica for ages but have been reading lots on Caroline Hirons' website and botemp's flies on here, wondering if I should stop/start/switch a few things. However, when I've attempted changes before, I've suffered sensitivity/irritation, and I also find it really hard to find my way through it all - I need something more 1:1...

I'd really like to go somewhere to get unbiased, non product specific advice and recommendations. Where would you go for that? I'm thinking along the lines of the skin analysis I get done at Dermalogica, but by someone who's not tied to recommending particular brands. Do you believe you can get this sort of unbiased advice anywhere?

Personally I'd go to an aesthetic clinic/doctor/nurse

Maybe start by looking at 5 star products on Beautypedia? www.beautypedia.com/best-products/

I don't buy anything without checking the reviews there first, as skincare review ratings are based on published scientific research, determining if products can do what they promise—not feelings after using the products.

I have always thought there is a big gap in the market for this. I would lovely to be able to go and see someone and them recommend the best products for my skin, regardless of brand.

Wow beautypedia is a bit of an eye opener! I hadn't even heard of it, thanks for the recommendation.
