If you are over forty do you have to start wearing carigans and sensible shoes?

AuntyQuated · 19/06/2007 18:44

there is no logic
i began this by almost thinking 'aloud' because my hair has been fairly short for a while but i fabcy growing it---then my tghoughts led to..if it was longer would i straighten it...then i saw the 2 mums at school - i thought that their straightened hair did nothing for them, to me, it makes them look older. would i look like that with 'striagtened' hair. my hair is striaght naturally but iyswim there is still a diffrence when it has been straightneed

"People just want their hair to look nice"

precisely

And not everyone has the same idea of what is nice!!
Therein lies the moral of the thread!

FelicityMontgomery · 19/06/2007 18:46

Wel there is nice straight and nasty over straihgtened thin limp hair.

But that's nothing to do with age.

Idreamofdaleks · 19/06/2007 19:06

nowt to do with age

AuntyQuated, grow your hair and see what's like, it's sounds like you have enough self awareness not too do nasty straihgt.

Lokk around there are plenty of women over forty with nice straight hair too. You'll probably be one of those

MrsBadger · 19/06/2007 19:19

is this question really 'when are you too old to slavishly follow popular fashion and should think about developing an individual style'?

to which I say 'about 25'

lou33 · 19/06/2007 19:28

i am 40 and my hair is permed

DeviousDaffodil · 19/06/2007 19:41

We are ALL far too 'with it and hip' to let ouirselves go!!

Meansleeves · 19/06/2007 19:42

Wotz, that photo is amazing, if I look like her at that age I'll be bloody delighted

cheechymunchy · 19/06/2007 19:55

Well, I'm 32, and trying to decide whether to embrace the curls that I was born with or go down the long worn path of msot women and pretend that their hair is straight. Believe me, I'm trying desperately to straighten it, but it's so damn curly that I just don't have the time to straighten it (takes 1hr).

lou33 · 19/06/2007 20:01

curly curly curly!

Lizzylou · 19/06/2007 20:04

My MOm has beautiful naturally thick curly hair and looks amazing at 55. I have curly hair naturally but it is fine and straightening it makes me look less "football faced", I did not inherit my Mom's killer cheekbones

I think it depends on your face/hair type.

BirdyArms · 19/06/2007 20:07

Have never thought of hair straightening as having a cut off age. Surely it's just what suits you that matters
