I'm 5ft and a fag paper. Are Maxi dresses a huge no no?

Also, will it make me look like a fashion desperado?

Do they look good on short stumpy birds like me, or are they only for the tall, willowy and teenaged?

5ft and a fag paper is how DP describes my height. ie I am a fag paper over 5ft

I am about 5'3" and I think they are a no-no unless you are very petite (I am not - merely stumpy) and the dress is also a petite cut, not an ordinary size shortened IYSWIM.

I also am unable to wear long linen skirts - again, makes me look very squat.

No to maxi dress then. Thought it might be a bad idea.

Any ideas how I can cover up my legs thn? Thye look like badly made sausages, and they cannot be inflicted on the general public.

I can't do cotton/linen trousers as they cling to my thights all wrong and are always far too big round the waist and look all billowy up top

I tried on a lovely one the other day I'm 5.3 and it made me look very small imo. I love them though.
what about a fuull length skirt that is like a fish tail? that is lenghthening me thinks? (I've got a denim one a bit fishtaily)

what are these maxi dresses of which you speak?

dorothy perkins have some fab maxi type skirts in at min, they CAN be worn as strapless dress too(just hoik them up over boobs) but IMO on my bod they look stupid, as a skirt however i look fabulous!, you can wear them higher if you are shorter as the ruched elastic top panel folds over.
they have all colours, white, green, orange, purple(i got green and white ones) , theyre £20 and i got 2 sizes smaller that i really am cos theyre so elasticy!
