Need to dress for an interview, what to wear?

Have a job interview for a serious and grown up job at the end of the month. I currently work in a very casual office so haven't dressed like a professional for years (jeans and converse are de rigeur) I had a baby a few months ago and still have a few lbs to go so all of my old clothes are a bit too snug.

What do I wear? Where do I start?
I'm a 10/12 hourglass, about 5' 5" will definitely need to have things tailored so need to buy this weekend ideally. Any suggestions welcome!

What’s your budget?

I wore this to my last interview (primary school). It’s very flattering and comfy, also 25% off at the moment. Petite length would probably sit nicely.

Hobbs Simona or Josie dressss are perfect. Hobbs indicate which ones are work drssses. More reliable than Biden in terms of quality. Their suits are excellent too and last forever.

No particular budget in mind @PurpleDaisies been looking at Hobbs so expecting to pay around £200 for trousers and maybe £150 for a blouse/shirt.
But that sounds very staid and boring.
Have lots of heels so it's just dress/trousers/top/tights I need.

Ooh that Boden dress is lovely!

I look shit in a suit, so always go for a tailored dress or skirt and blouse.
Next has some lovely tailored dresses that won't break the bank.

The Boden dress is exactly the kind of thing I would go for as well!

I agree on a tailored dress and heels. Feels very ‘grown up’ and interview appropriate. I’ve worn similar to the Boden dress linked but with shorter sleeves

PurpleDaisies · 08/11/2018 22:17

Glad so many like it! It comes in a few colours. There’s a sleeveless version too. The blue colour is lovely-not really jn your face but a bit different. I’ve had a lot of compliments when I’ve worn it.

Good luck with the interview, whatever you end up wearing.

The blue is gorgeous but I wasn't sure it would be quite right on me, I ordered the Mia Ottoman (in green and a size 12) and the polperro ottoman (in mulled wine and a size 10) I'll return whichever doesn't fit and will head into town this weekend to look at the blue in person and check Hobbs out too.
I've also invested in a decent minimiser bra to tame "the girls" and a pretty hardcore looking girdle to tame my flaccid stomach so I don't spend the whole interview trying to surreptitiously adjust my knicker elastic to avoid looking like a butcher tied joint of meat 😂😂

Can't do a link for some reason, but I wore a Catwalk Diva dress (Polly) for my last interview and I've ordered the one called Carla for the next one.

Stretchy thick fabric, flattering draping over tummy, goes in the washing machine (I've tested it ) loads of colours.

I'm 5'8'' though so try on for length. I got a huge size as they come up quite small and I didn't want it as tight as on the model.
