Tommy Hilfiger as a brand/brand status

Random question but what is the general perception of Tommy Hifiger as a brand? & what is its demographic?

I've always mentally categorised it as a bit chavvy - sort of in the same class as Burberry check and over- logo-ised Louis Vuitton - but then I realised I had no idea why I thought that.

Is it a bit naff? Or is it a cool brand?

Was looking for a clothing Christmas gift for a teenager (fussy and specified parameters) and didn't want to have a branding fail.

Anyone? Save me from getting into hot water with a teenager!

I think gigi hadid and bella helped with modelling it. I know they wore 90s like hilfiger tees and puffa jackets became popular. Don't know if it's still a popular look but she does have a range.

It depends on your dc's style really. It seems sports brands and logos are in even though I hate it!

Only trouble is it might have peaked a couple of years ago. It depends really.

Lewis Hamilton is currently being paid $$$$$$$ to promote Hilfiger, which does not make me any more likely to wear it.

According to my dds, Burberry (the checked stuff) and Calvin Klein are making a comeback. Dd1 wants a D&G or Gucci belt for Christmas. Haven’t heard Tommy Hilfiger mentioned for a while; dd1 was coveting an overpriced TH jacket last year but seems to have gone off the idea (phew).

Dd2 wears a lot of Tommy Hilfiger to school. She’s at a school with loads of overseas wealthy kids who live in designer labels and all look the same. She bought her Hilfiger in thrift shops on her summer holiday.

My 18 year old DS loves TH...Gigi & Bella might have something to do with that

Neither of my teens are impressed by TH.

Is the teen male or female? Lots of brands are popular with one sex but not the other.

My DD (16) has a couple of TH tops , the logo is discreet but the colour blocking is the main giveaway .
She has a cream cropped top from Urban Outfitters (I did think "Feck, how do I was that ? ") but its okay in a gentle wash in a laundry bag.

DD hasn't mentioned the Hadids but se does say it looks a bit Keanu Taylor (Eastenders)
