Not a thing to wear!

Help! My DH has arranged for us to go to Ascot on Friday (and has even got the MIL to come from NWales to babysit). It is a private box but the royal enclosure dress rules apply (posh frock, hat etc) I have nothing to wear and don't want to spend a fortune - has anyone got any good ideas?

Have yougot a dress agency where you could hire something?

How much do you want to spend or have you got anything that you could tart up with hat and new shoes & accessories

MinW · 18/06/2007 18:06

I might have a look for a dress agency. The only problem is that I'm concerned I might spill on something on it which could be expensive (am v clumsy). Would like something nice to make me feel less 'scummy-mummy'.

some lovely dresses aty the supermarkets , jazz up with nice shoes and handbag - you might be able to get new dresss for same price as hiring one

or ask some friends?

Have you got something plain that you could dress up - a good dress or skirt that you could work around.

Tell us the contents of your wardrobe.....do you have a budget, however minimal?

MinW
you must have something in your wardrobe have you pulled everything out and hoked about mixing things?

a really simple dress, pressed and a shawl, nice shoes and a fascinator, nice sunglasses!

MinW · 18/06/2007 19:16

Sorry to show my ignorance here, but what is a fascinator? There is a dress that I could poss jazz up - it's seen a few occastions though. DH is spending £85 on dress suit and top hat hire, so would not feel too bad about matching that. My DS turned 6 months today so have hit that nil pay time on my maternity leave.

Am slipping into size 14 land, 5'6", used to have dark hair (now adding lights to match the natural blonde appearing). Have a bit of a tan. I best suit bright colours.
