Best shop for size 16 casual clothes, pref cotton?

I need a few tops, tired of my old stuff and not much that fits properly. I'm menopausal, so man-made fabrics just make me sweat, wool makes me itch, even if not scratchy. I'm on a low budget too, although very happy to use eBay.

Any suggestions where to shop, what to look for.

I look on Pinterest and blogs but the clothes are either no longer available, in the US, out of my budget or not man-made fabrics, I just get frustrated and give up.

have you had a look at fatface? They do online and high street. I'm size 16 there and they have some lovely flattering stuff. Try the sale bit first if funds are low. I think the prices are fairly standard high street. £25-40 for a top depending on style etc.

this top here is made from a 'breathable cotton fabric' and comes in a variety of colours and patterns, so you could get the same top in several different ones.

these are short sleeve, and again, are made of cotton.

I quite like cottontraders.

Kaz2200 · 03/11/2018 14:21

I am exactly the same and would love both casual and evening wear in natural fabrics.

I am a size 14 and hot and sweaty. I swear by H&M cotton/linen t shirts, Cotton jumpers and the Pima cotton nightwear. I also like the cotton & silk vest tops as they are lovely and soft and I wear them under cashmere. I buy all these online as I have free delivery with the H&M club card.

GoldenHoops · 03/11/2018 14:34

I like Cotton Traders as well Jeanne16

I often find tops aren't very long. I like them to cover my bum at least.

Teta do you have a link to the silk vest tops?

nothingwittyhere · 03/11/2018 18:55

Seasalt? Lots of cotton and tunics.

WildFlower2018 · 03/11/2018 19:21

OP I'm a size 16 and I really like tops that cover my bum too.

I quite like Mantaray from Debenhams. Bit on the pricey side though, for me, so I tend to get them on eBay x

fishhavefeelingstoo · 04/11/2018 02:39

oh yes Mantaray are nice, I'll look on eBay.

You might get some end of season Lands End stuff now. I buy from the “tall” range where it’s offered. That ensures good bum coverage.

Otherwise get on their mailing list, they have excellent flash sales all year long.

Yogagirl123 · 04/11/2018 06:40

If you like me, are always looking for a budget friendly option, give the supermarkets a try, Sainsbury’s TU is pretty good for tunics style tops, not been in Asda George for a while but brought tops from there in the past. I got a couple of mantaray tops half price in Debenhams, so may be worth a look.

I am also going through the menopause and have brought the max strength dove/sure deodorants (in the boxes) they have helped, although not a cheap option I know.

Good luck OP, I hope you manage to find some nice new tops.

dedicatedfolloweroffashion · 04/11/2018 07:23

Was going to recommend fat face too

fishhavefeelingstoo · 04/11/2018 22:20

Thanks. I have ezcema so have to be careful what deodorant I use unfortunately. I can't use spray at all, just very gentle roll on.

I Used to love Fat Face, but don't find as much I like these days.

I haven't looked in a Lands End catalogue for a while, but didn't used to see much I liked in there.
