I am considering buying this cgi.ebay.co.uk/Satin-steel-boned-corset-prom-ball-siz e-20-22-RP-125_W0QQitemZ180129579937QQihZ008QQcategoryZ314QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I would be wearing it to a college reunion in July. Quite a youngish, funky crowd. I am 27.

I would probably team it with nice, black wide leg trousers, a black bolero thingy and soome peep toe shoes.

What do you think?

mumto3girls · 18/06/2007 09:32

wrong...so wrong....

southeastastra · 18/06/2007 09:33

if you can carry it off, why not? my neice loves corsets she has managed to get a teeny tiny waist from wearing one.

wear it at home for a while to get used to it!

weepootleflump · 18/06/2007 09:33

definitely terrible

Maybe if you are hoping to pull?!!

lou33 · 18/06/2007 09:35

i like corsets but i'm not keen on this one, think the colour combo is a bit garish

schneebly · 18/06/2007 09:36

okay methinks it is back to the drawing board.

I am a closet goth and big moulin rouge fan.

The reunion is all Theatre students.

But everyone hates it.

It's wicked I love it. Corsets are a great look and the colour is fantastic - very bright and in-your-face. Let's face it, corsets aren't subtle, no matter what colour. I think you will look great in it.

MuminBrum · 18/06/2007 09:37

To elaborate - unless this is a Tarts and Vicars party, I really don't think this is a good idea!

FrannyandZooey · 18/06/2007 09:38

I don't like the colour

I think a corset could look fab if you get the rest of the outfit right, but not pink and black

Mindles · 18/06/2007 09:38

Oh god if they are theatre students you will likely be the most conservatively-dressed despite wearing a corset. Honestly it rocks.

schneebly · 18/06/2007 09:42

Thanks mindles. I think everyone else had put me off though

Pink and black is my faveourite colour combe

I am style pariah!

Why didn't you say before that it was a Theatre course reunion? That changes everything. I still think wearing corsets as outerwear is horrid but the context would be different. You do need to be sure it fits though. Boned strapless tops almost always create armpit and dorsal muffin tops.

mistypeaks · 18/06/2007 09:45

Not a fan of the pink and black, but corsets can look fantastic with the right outfit - I think you'll look great. You have to accessorise with bags of confidence though!!!

tinatantrum · 18/06/2007 09:50

In size 20 I don't think it will look quite like you imagine it I'm sure there is another flattering beautiful outfit out there waiting for you - just not this one. Sorry for not being more supportive I just really don't like it. But then I'm often wrong about stuff and if you've got a larger than life personality you probably could pull it off and would look great

Mindles · 18/06/2007 09:55

Yes pink and black RAWKS (am perhaps a bit closet-goth too - always wanted to be a punk really, with pink mohican, never brave enough lol) and FWIW I think larger ladies often look better in corsets than skinny minnies, cos larger ladies have the curves to fill out the top and bottom of a corset.

schneebly · 18/06/2007 09:55

Tina - I do ahve a faily large personality and am confident. I have also worn a corset before and it was very flattering. The only thing I would be self-conscious about is my arms - hence the bolero.

I dont think I will be buying it anyway.

OP posts:
schneebly · 18/06/2007 09:56

Mindles - I used to have pink hair.

southeastastra · 18/06/2007 09:57
