What would you wear with these shoes and do I have to have a bare ankle?😳

I used to really love the smart casual look but I haven’t got it nailed anymore!

Loved the ankle boots/skinny jeans combo but then having the skinnies tucked in seeemd to not be ‘in’ anymore. I got around this by wearing the slightly longer version of ankle boots and they looked good.

Anyway my question is with these Geox trainers would I wear socks or not?? I don’t mean the half socks that you can see but proper socks or is a bare ankle the only acceptable look?

Hopefully people won’t pile in and say “wear what you want!” This is style and beauty! There is definitely an issue with what to wear on your feet in winter and HOW to wear it!

I can't imagine socks looking good with those.

Delatron · 01/11/2018 14:16

No socks on show! Bit of a bare ankle showing between the jean and trainer.

hendricksy · 01/11/2018 14:21

Trainer socks , they shouldn't be on show IMO .

GraceMarks · 01/11/2018 14:25

It's all very well demanding bare ankles, but I wouldn't have wanted to go out without a sock between me and the elements over the last few mornings. I think it's fine to cover the gap with plain black socks myself, but then I've just been accused of wearing fancy dress because I'm wearing non-black tights, so what do I know...

hendricksy · 01/11/2018 14:32

The point is you only wear this look if you can bear the cold or it's not too warm, or you don't care but the fact the OP is asking means she does care .
I wear pumps and ankle length jeans until it gets really cold , THey I wear boots .

OverByYer · 01/11/2018 14:32

You could wear plain grey socks?

SuperstarDJ · 01/11/2018 14:34

I think visible socks would look awful with those tbh.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 01/11/2018 14:59

Agreed. Unless perhaps you were wearing a very feminine dress, or a sunray pleated skirt (are they still in?) and wore cutesy white ankle socks.

Owwwww my eyes my eyes!!!!

OK, I haven't actually looked at the trainers because the link isn't secure on my computer for some reason. If visible socks would really look that bad, then either wear slightly longer jeans to cover the gap or save the look for warmer weather!

Delatron · 01/11/2018 15:16

I just think you save the look for a milder winter day when an inch of flesh showing won’t freeze you.

CountFosco · 01/11/2018 16:50

Invisible socks plus pop socks is the best option for cooler weather. Sometimes fashion is not glamorous at all!

TBH I'd look for shoes that do look OK with snazzy socks so you can be warm and trendy at the same time!

Try Primark Sports Footies - i wear them with trainers, they don't show & they stay on your feet.

hendricksy · 01/11/2018 18:03

@tierraJ they are the only ones that stay on but it must be the sports ones!
