Making the shaft of a boot narrower (skinny calves)

Is this possible? I'm loving so many knee high leather boots this season, but without fail, the shaft is too wide and I look like I'm wearing wellies. I don't want a sock boot style, which would solve the problem, but is a completely different look, style wise.

If so, would a high street cobbler be able to do it, or is it a specialist job?

It's altering this sort of style boot if a picture helps:

Have you tried Duo?

www.duoboots.com

They make boots starting at 30cm calf size. Otherwise I do know 2 people who have had the shaft altered but not on the high street - tends to be a more knowledgeable one-off local cobbler.

I have skinny legs and Jones boots seem to fit quite nicely

Thank you for the recommendations but I'm really asking if its possible to alter other boots, I do have some in mind. I'm not keen on Duo or Jones boots, they don't quite hit the right look for me, but thanks for taking the time to answer.

I meant to add that the ones I have seen done have always had a zip, so the cobbler can get all the way down inside to pin and re-sew. Pull-ons wouldn't work.

hammeringinmyhead thanks, good point, the ones I like are pull on. I suspect like most clothes nowadays, there wouldn't be much seam allowance to enable the stitching to be unpicked, cut and restitched, plus this is working with leather not fabric.
