Is this in fashion?

nicebitofquiche · 28/10/2018 21:47

I think it's quite a classic look and although yellow is fashionable atm I don't think the coat will date at all. It's nice.

Go for Navy...

Glaciferous · 28/10/2018 21:57

Yes, it will go out of fashion. Yellow is having a bit of a moment, but next year it will be something else. If you want something that will last, you need the navy one.

If you don't mind buying a new coat next year, this is fine.

Having said that, I don't think anything about it other than the colour is currently fashionable, if that matters to you.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 28/10/2018 22:00

Er, it’s Joules..... fashionable doesn’t even come into it.

‘Jaunty ‘😁 possibly and the favourite store of age 70+ women across the land -definitely .

Go with what you like.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 28/10/2018 22:02

I have a feeling Christine would approve....

If this is in. I'm out.

TheWiseWomansFear · 28/10/2018 22:10

I had a yellow coat last year and it has stayed in fashion til this year so why not?

MrsVietor · 28/10/2018 22:11

The colour is probably quite 2018 but the cut of it will last well into your retirement age

bumblebee39 · 28/10/2018 22:15

I got a yellow coat last year and wish it hadn't got ruined... Bought a lovely yellow jumper instead. Love yellow it always makes me happy and I'll wear it whether it's in fashion or not:

But I'm a rebel. I don't follow fashion. Occasionally it follows me...

I'm like the Vivienne Westwood of throwaway fashion me

Sadoldbagpuss · 28/10/2018 22:15

That's boggin, sorry.

auroraboringalice · 28/10/2018 22:16

Fashion is MEANT to go out of fashion.

Keeps the 'ole spending wheel turning!

OrigamiZoo · 28/10/2018 22:19

If you hold the coat beneath your chin, do you look glowy and alive or like death warmed up? Don't buy it just because you like the colour, the colour has to like you.

bumblebee39 · 28/10/2018 22:19

Id but it wear it and put my middle finger up to the haters but I am brave

I mean like... "Wtaf are you wearing?" From one person and "OMG you look like something I saw in vogue?"

I go by my own rules and my own colour scheme and yellow is always in in my world! Plus navy is dull as fuck...

MoltonSilver · 28/10/2018 22:44

Everything goes out of fashion.
Buy whichever of the two options best suits your own colouring.

LanaorAna2 · 28/10/2018 23:08

Well yes, but you should be ok for a few years yet. Most trends last at least four years now - megatrends last seven.

Go for it.

DramaAlpaca · 28/10/2018 23:13

Yellow isn't the easiest colour to wear, and that particular shade doesn't suit many people so I'd be very wary.

As to will it go out of fashion, yes it definitely will.

halcyondays · 28/10/2018 23:23

I'd get navy because that yellow wouldn't suit me at all.

9unctured6icycle · 29/10/2018 00:24

Oh ffs I just bought an acid yellow coat from Cos, I hope next year the fashion isn't 'anything but yellow'.
Op if yellow doesn't suit you down to the ground you can always get a scarf that suits. Kettlewell does an infinity scarf in loads of great colours, and I love the way yellow looks with other brights. I bought a bright blue one to act as a buffer.
I like navy and it has its place but I couldn't live in it to the exclusion of brights. I hope to never buy/wear another black coat as long as I live. That coat has peacoat overtones and surely that's sort of timeless?

Plumpcious · 29/10/2018 00:39

If the colour suits you and the coat looks good when you wear it then get it. Mustard yellow suits my colouring so I'm happy to buy it for the long term, not because it's in fashion.

Also, a lighter colour is preferable for winter coats because it's more noticeable in the dark. For pedestrians anyway.

Dontfeellikeaskeleton · 29/10/2018 01:00

It does look warm.

Like warm custard

7salmonswimming · 29/10/2018 01:09

Joules. I’ve yet to find anything there that wouldn’t look better on a toddler size. Sorry.

Igottastartthinkingbee · 29/10/2018 07:05

Some brilliant responses here 😂

Thanks for the advice everyone, I can’t bring myself to get the navy, it’s too safe. Can’t get the my bloody voucher to work on the website (one4all 😡) so that’s decision made cause I can’t afford it without that.
