Help me find my style

I’ve always played it safe/plain when it comes to my ‘look’ but following a serious illness, weight gain and the end of a LTR, I’m finally starting to get things back on track and have recently lost 2st. I feel now is the time to reinvent myself.

My problem is I don’t know how to dress or style my hair (I’m reasonably good at makeup however). I don’t enjoy shopping and I’m not sure which shops are for me. I live in tshirts and jeans.

Anybody got any advice on where to start please? I’m mid 30’s, 5’11, size 14 with an hourglass figure, wide hips, small bust, good legs, tummy bulge, waist length dark wavy hair which I wear down usually.

I posted on here about needing a new style and a couple of people suggested that I try a personal shopper session. I am now going to be banging on to anybody who listens about giving it a go! I don't work for John Lewis or anything, but it really was exceptionally helpful to me, as somebody who has changed weight a lot over the years and lost confidence in the way my body looks. You get two hours and, if the stylist is any good, you get objective opinions about what suits you and what goes with what. I bought a few things but I also came away with ideas about what to look out for, so I can maybe pick up some more bits in slightly cheaper shops. I'm now planning to make it a regular thing, maybe on a seasonal basis.

My immediate thought on seeing your pictures was that you might still be dressing to hide your figure when you really don't need to. I think it's fairly common after losing weight. With your height, slim-legged trousers with a fitted top would look great. Not fitted as in clingy, just not huge and baggy - you want it to go in at the waist a bit. The checked dress is OK but I think it's a wee bit long to flatter you. The coat is nice!

Sorry op I completely missed your height, so tall clothes aren't a new thing for you.

Please don't cut your hair - it's lovely as it is, I'd give anything to have hair Like yours.

I like the dress and the coat. Great purchases! Xx
