Could I get away with 1 dress for a 21st, a wedding and a christening?

I have a 21st birthday party before xmas and a wedding and a christening within a couple of weeks of each other in the new year
I was hoping I could get away with the same dress/outfit for all 3 occasions

Would this one work do you think?
And what colour bag & shoes would you put with it?

Could I get away with 1 dress for a 21st, a wedding and a christening?

It would work for all - if it is different people at each event, but is too summery for dec/jan.

BikeRunSki · 26/10/2018 18:44

You could get away with one dress, but that’s not it.

spanishwife · 26/10/2018 18:46

You could, yes. What season?

If autumn winter then go for block colour jewel tones, navy, forest green

If spring summer then lighter toned blue, pinks, or brights like orange, coral..

spanishwife · 26/10/2018 18:46

Sorry completely skimmed over your post and missed you clearly stating when the events are.

That dress is not something I would wear in December and January, no.

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 18:48

Ordinarily I would go for black/navy/khaki green, but I always feel like you should be pastel or floral at a wedding and at christenings though? Would never wear black to a daytime event

Yes of course and it doesn't matter who else is there!

I think something simpler would be easier though. I do like that.

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 18:48

It is different people at each event yes

No need to wear pastel at a wedding or christening, I think it's just because these events usually happen in spring/summer so that's what you're used to seeing?

I would never wear pastel in winter, apart from an icy pale blue maybe?

Floral is fine, but there's summer floral and there's winter floral. Winter floral is richer toned and on a darker background colour

sycamore54321 · 26/10/2018 18:53

I agree that this dress doesn’t work for winter. Maybe the 21st is very dressy but for me, I wouldn’t wear the same type of thing for an evening birthday party as I would for a wedding and christening, which are more daytime and also more formal. So maybe whatever is your existing best going-out outfit for the 21st and then a new dress for the other two?

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 18:54

You're probably right actually that is likely why I'm thinking I should be in pastels
Ok back to the drawing board it is

None of those are really my style spanish I'm quite a boring simple dresser
Thankyou though!

sycamore I don't really have a going out outfit, I don't go out
(I'd probably attempt to wriggle out of this party too if it wasn't family) Blush

I was just about to send you this haha! This shape
and style would work well for those events though? I work in fashion and I'm here to tell you that you absolutely can find an outfit that suits all occasions, it's all about the shoes, bag, outerwear, makeup and hair. Totally doable.

sycamore54321 · 26/10/2018 18:58

Dark jeans, heels and a nice top?

Obviously you could wear the same to all theee but a wedding outfit is probably a little much for a 21 in general. So in that case something like a dress in a single color rather than a print is more versatile.

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 19:14

I like that mustard one spanish although I'm not sure if I could do that much cleavage (plus my boobs are where all my stretch marks are 🙄)

sycamore I'm just rummaging through my wardrobe to see if there's anything I could wear for the 21st and then just get something a bit fancier for the wedding and christening as I think you could be right

Yes of course you can wear the same outfit to three occasions, I only have one 'best outfit' which I wear to all special occasions. I am going to a wedding tomorrow & my shoes are the ones I bought for my 40th birthday 20 years ago Grin

CherryPavlova · 26/10/2018 19:23

Of course you can. The queen wears outfits several times. On the whole it’s better to have one good quality, well cut outfit than several cheap dresses.

Nobody really notices what others are wearing unless it’s entirely unsuitable. The dress is pretty and suitable but you’ll have to work out how you’ll make it warmer. Do you have a nice camel coat?

HollidayArmadillo · 26/10/2018 20:07

Cherry I think that's the first (and probably last) time in my life someone has compared me to the queen Grin
No camel coat though I bet the queen has one

I have a cream/nude fur coat though - would that work?

OP posts:
CherryPavlova · 26/10/2018 20:23

A cream fur coat would be very winter wedding. I went to a New Year wedding where everyone was in their furs, including the bride. Looked lovely. Reception venues are always overheated so you’ll be fine when inside.
A christening would be fine in that but fur might be a bit overdressed so another simple coat, maybe.
Absolutely no idea what people where to ‘go out’. If a private 21st it would be fine too but might be a bit too pretty for a nightclub. It’s fine for a drinks and meal type party.

Main thing is that people want you not your dress.
