Bastard asks me out today after three years, that’s three years, of waiting! But the date is tomorrow night, and I’m panicking about what to wear. He’s seen me almost every working day (very casual environment) for those three years, so has seen practically every item of clothing I own.

We’re eating at a gastro pub so not terrifically posh, and I’m very much a jeans/trousers/leather jacket/ person anyway, so from that point of view all is good. But I want to at least look a bit different/nicer than usual so how can I ring the changes? I’m usually in black, navy or white so I’m thinking maybe red? I have dark hair and eyes, olive skin, 5’ 4”, 12-14, and old enough to know better!

Please help me - I have only hours to dress to impress! Thx.

Jeans, ankle boots, a white shirt and a leather jacket with some silver jewellery (if you have) is an stylish but comfortable look. Could you make that work?

Don't worry that he has seen everything you wear, he probably hasn't noticed your clothes Wink
Just wear what you're comfortable in, pretend you're meeting some friends at the pub.

MoltonSilver · 25/10/2018 21:56

Ring in the changes with a bit of extra effort on hair, make up and accessories. Your clothes are fine.

Bloke here - don't stress, he's asked you out, not your clothes. Relax and enjoy.

Oh replies! Thank you. I know you are all right and I should just be me (but with lipstick maybe!) but I want him to think I scrub up well!

Get a blow dry and a manicure. You’ll feel fabulous. Wear your favourite clothes and make an effort with your makeup.

Red sounds lovely with your colouring. I never go full femme fatale on a first date, always Me But Better which means making a bit of extra effort like MoltonSilver says but not trying anything completely new.

Lisa Eldridge has a good "first date makeup" tutorial.
