I have big feet! Will I ever be able to wear skinny jeans and trainers?

Just that really....I have size 8 feet and always feel ridiculous If I try this look but I’m hoping maybe it’s because I have the wrong trainers! Have tried various converse styles and I look like a golf club, so I’m thinking maybe some Superga ones (or similar). Or will I look just as ridiculous? Has anyone else with big feet successfully pulled off this look and if so what trainers do you wear?

I basically stopped caring. But instead of converse I wear trainers which come in one dark colour and also ones which don’t cover the whole foot (size 8/10 skinny jeans, size 8 feet and I’m 5’4”)

Cakemonger · 25/10/2018 21:20

I have size 9 feet. I basically avoid white trainers and go for smart, black or dark coloured ones. Though I'm almost at the point of deciding I don't care and wearing whatever I like Smile

cheeseandcrackers · 25/10/2018 21:23

Size 9s here - trainers & skinnies look clown-like on me. Sorry,no help but sympathy, you're not alone!

Easterbuns1 · 25/10/2018 21:28

I'm 5 foot 9, size 10 skinnies and various size 9 trainers and give not one solitary fuck. I can't change the size of my feet so not worth worrying about!

Hmm not caring could be the way forward! Do you think I would look less daft if I wore looser, boyfriend style jeans? The last time I successfully wore jeans and trainers was in the 90s when my jeans were so baggy you wouldn’t have been able to see my footwear! I don’t want to wear boots all autumn/winter though :(

Just embrace the skinny jeans and wear those trainers if you want!!
HM for example have some nice cheap trainers which you can experiment with. If you’re slim, then slim fitting trainers are best. Let me find some links

Pinkyyy · 25/10/2018 21:32

I find that because trainers like converse are quite thin, they make the feet look longer. If you get a trainer with a thicker sole that usually tends to balance it out. Similarly if you go for boots with a heel, that has the same effect

Lindy2 · 25/10/2018 21:34

Of course you can. Stop worrying about what you think other people might be thinking and just go ahead with what you want to wear. I promise you, no one cares about the size of your feet.

Believeitornot · 25/10/2018 21:38

these

Can’t find anymore - basically trainers where the heel is dark like the top bit are best!

Fozzleyplum · 25/10/2018 21:38

In the same boat here. Long legged 5'8", size 10-12 and wide size 8-9 feet. I look like a frogman in skinny jeans, so I only ever wear them with boots.

sproutsandparsnips · 25/10/2018 21:43

My feet are not as large (6-7) but are flat and flipper like. I find it difficult to actually fit them through the holes in the bottom of my skinny jeans!

BrokeLuce · 25/10/2018 21:44

Well I have size 11 feet. I can't get women's shoes in the UK so make do with what I can find. I've had.to wear men's shoes since primary school so very quickly learned not to care what others thought!

ElspethFlashman · 25/10/2018 21:44

In fairness Converse would make anyone look like they have long feet, they're brutal for that.

I find my Adidas Stan Smiths make my feet look a bit smaller. I have Velcro straps and that breaks up the length a lot too. The Adidas website have a nifty customisation thing so you can have a gum sole for example (as opposed to a white sole) and different colours of leather. That's a bit awesome.

I also think the Vans Old Skool tend to be good for disguising the size of the feet.

hooveringhamabeads · 25/10/2018 21:44

I’m a size 10 and my legs are 34” which doesn’t help the golf club aesthetic. My feet are quite narrow. LONG and narrow Grin

JammyGeorge · 25/10/2018 21:50

I've got big feet, I think Stan Smiths are quite good for not looking huge.

LostInTheColonies · 25/10/2018 21:53

Size 9 here. I do not give one single fuck as there is nothing you can do about the size of your feet (apart from cutting a few toes off which is not very practical). I tend to wear Adidas sneakers because they are long and narrow, like my feet. Bright red, floral, blue... Also have black shoes covered in butterflies, and fantastic pointy boots which probably add a couple of extra inches. Quite frankly, if I find any shoes to fit I'm over the moon...

chipsandgin · 25/10/2018 21:53

Well I’ve got the opposite problem - I’m 6’ and have size 6 feet at a push. I love trainers but have sold on many pairs that made my feet look small, now buy them all in a 7 and wear insoles (same for boots!). I’ve found of all the brands the ones that make my feet look tiny are Adidas, particularly gazelles also Nike air max & classic Vans - worth a go if you are looking for the opposite effect! My feet have been likened to trotters, have always wanted bigger feet..

derekthe1adyhamster · 25/10/2018 21:54

Stop caring! If my son who has size 11 can wear skinny jeans and trainers anyone can Halloween Wink

thedevilinablackdress · 25/10/2018 22:09

Get them worn!
Nobody looks at men (with their size 8/9/10/11+ feet) wearing skinny jeans and trainers and thinks their feet are 'too big'

hooveringhamabeads · 25/10/2018 23:54

To be fair, I do think men in skinny jeans and trainers do look a bit ridiculous. But I think it’s the skinny jeans rather than their feet that I have a problem with.

BeautifulComicalThings · 26/10/2018 00:10

I have size 7 feet and love my skinnies so I feel your pain! I love Vans in the 'Authentic' style because they're a slim style and don't make my feet look big at all

RonaldMcDonald · 26/10/2018 00:42

I rarely wear skinnies now as they don’t feel fashionable but I am an 8/9 and wore trainers and dms with them. I looked like golf clubs at the time

Flashingbeacon · 26/10/2018 00:48

You want to see my ds in his school shoes. He’s a 3 1/2 age 8, talk but lanky and has the narrowest feet (a D by Clark’s standards). So skinny black shoes. He looks like the penguin from Batman but there really was no choice.

NarcolepticOuchMouse · 26/10/2018 01:15

It depends how tall you are really. I have size 9's but I'm 5"10 so I've never had a problem with looking out of proportion. I also have only ever looked at another women and noticed how big her feet are once, my friend who is 5"11 and has size 6's. Now that's noticeably out of proportion.
