Where can I find a stylish raincoat with a hood?

I don't want to look like I'm about to go fell-walking, I don't want a cagoule, I want to look like I've made a bit of effort BUT it must have a hood - I'm a cyclist. Either a hood or detailed technical specifications for attaching an umbrella to a bicycle . I love the sort of trench-coat with a belt thing but they don't have hoods - anyone have any ideas?

Tutter · 14/06/2007 13:30

there is def a gap in the market here

this question asked a lot on here

not sure we've ever cracked it tbh

KTeePee · 14/06/2007 13:31

Should have added this topic to the thread about threads that keep recurring.

Quick answer is that no such thing exists....

KTeePee · 14/06/2007 13:31

Snap Tutter!

MrsBadger · 14/06/2007 13:38

there are none

we have been searching for years

best we have ever found are Boden and are still not great -
summer one
winter one

this is the best non-hooded one about, and if you can lay your hands on a hat that suits you you're made. Apparently Orla Kiely did a line of rain hats but can I find them on sale anywhere?

Fimbo · 14/06/2007 13:45

Mrs B - there is a phone number here for the hats if you are interested:-

A rain-proof hat is probably the most useful accessory you could own. Orla Kiely's laminated cotton hats in retro floral prints are gorgeous (£45; 020 7240 4022).

KTeePee · 14/06/2007 13:46

I'm sure her shop in Covent Garden must sell them...will get dh to look next time he is going past....

MrsBadger · 14/06/2007 13:46

yes but that was May 2006

MrsBadger · 14/06/2007 13:47

none on her website either

good old ebay

princessmel · 14/06/2007 14:22

My mum found one for me in her catalogue. its a khaki colour but comes in black and stone.
Like a parka, but thin. Not too hot. With a hood. £25. Covers bum length. looks good with jeans.
Its for walking to school, pushing buggy etc.

I'll have to think of the name of the catalogue.
Its a my mums age sort of one.

Hassled · 14/06/2007 15:51

Thank you all - may have to start my own business selling trendy raincoats (just need to learn to sew)

I think it was Fashion World. Not sure if they have a website.

Its called 'casual jacket' Code no.TA693AG

I have it in khaki. It says the hood is detachable but it doesn't look like one of those roll up ones iykwim.
I like it.

Maybe I'll post a pic of me in it!!

fireflyfairy2 · 15/06/2007 14:34

Do millets not sell raincoats?

Or are they not trendy enough

perhaps they are too functional?

princessmel · 15/06/2007 14:36

Ok, just looked at the thread title and realised that this is more urban than stylish. More school run than smart. Still nice though. Oh and it doesn't come in size 10
I had the 12 and it will do.
