Can’t find clothes for body shape - driving me insane

Please help me - my shape is 36 30 34 - I have prominent ribs and I just can’t find any tops or dresses that don’t make me feel really broad on top. Please can anyone help me find some going out tops or dresses to have me make the best of myself - it’s really driving me crazy.

You are me!

I have this very problem and have only slowly started to understand styles I need to avoid in order not to look so top heavy. I'm slim but my shoulders and ribcage are quite wide compared to the rest of my body (size 8/10 top half and size 6 bottom half).

What I have learned to avoid:

slouchy jumpers
Waterfall style open front cardigans
Raglan sleeves
Scoop neck tops/dresses
Floaty, loose fit tops/dresses
Plaid patterns/busy prints
High cut jeans/trousers (they cut into my waist if they fit on the hips, if they fit on waist then they're too big on the hips/bum area)
High waisted skirts and empire line dresses
Belted coats/jackets/cardigans/tops/dresses

I find all the above accentuate my wide shoulders and ribcage. What I think works for me is dark coloured tops that are structured and fitted, worn with mid or low cut jeans/trousers/skirts. Sleeveless tops with high neckline I think also flatter, although roll necks do emphasise my broad shoulders. It's still very much trial and error for me.

I am broader on top, an inverted triangle, and i find it so difficult to buy clothes that suit me. I am size 12. My waist isn't very defined either. I find v neck sleeveless tops suit me. Nothing with puffy sleeves or high necks. Find that bardot tops are surprisingly ok. Jackets, blazers and cardigans I find particularly difficult as they can make me look very broad. Apparently peplum tops can look good as they balance out the shoulders. I wear high waisted jeans they fit me fine usually. I will put a few links here of the style I would usually go for in tops

These are great - I have just bought the red camellia dress from mango and saw a great top today in Monsoon. I also struggle as I have a bit of a baggy torso due to carrying very high.
