Can I wear black to a vow renewal?

Just that really. I’ve been invited to a very swanky vow renewal (November) and want to wear a cape sleeve, wrap midi dress with black ankle boots... can I or does usual wedding etiquette apply?!

Hmm. I wouldn't, but I admit I am kind of old-fashioned. I see it as an occasion to reinforce the original wedding vows. Not a fan of these events, but obviously if attending I would want to do the right thing.

I wouidn't wear black either to a wedding r near-wedding.

Though if course if you want to express disapproval, it's a perfect choice
