Why do tights bisect me in the middle like a sausage?

Am I buying the wrong size? Am I shrinking them? Are all tights just inherently evil?

Buy a bigger size than you think you need and then wear 'invisible' knickers over the top of them to hold them up.

They are just inherently evil I’m afraid :( options seem to be get a six pack, buy ones that are enormous and therefore spend all day hitching them up, or put up with it. Alas.

Never buy the cheapest or most expensive tights. The middle ground is best in terms of comfort va price. The cheap ones are nasty and cut me up something wicked. I buy l'eggs here in the US and PP in the U.K. Sainsburys Tu range do good tights too.

‘Invisible’ knickers sounds like something my DH might like. (I prefer nice big granny pants.) tights are awful.

I buy large so they come up to my armpits. I've yet to figure out a way to actually attach them to my bra so the waistband doesn't roll down and create a big tight wedge round my middle that is visible through my dress.

I have hated tights for years. Kept seeing the adverts for snag tights and thought oh fuck it. They are the most comfortable perfectly sized things ever. Literally been living in them.

Yeah a size up works for me, and pants on top.

Though I do slightly panic about being run over by a bus and paramedics discovering my Superman look

Like @Holycityzoo I too look like an ant (great descripition!!) - I bought Snag for this very reason and whilst they definitely dont slip down, I wouldnt say they were very generous around the waist despite me following their sizing. They dont dig in as much as others, but are still not perfect by any means.

I've just received some Heist ones too - as ordered size 16-18 but just looking at them I'm still going to have to wrestle to get the damned things on - the waistband looks so narrow!

Tu tights are good. DD and I wear them for school and they rarely snag or fall down.
