A 5ft 2, size 10, blonde, green/brown eyed 36 year old wedding guest, which of these dresses would be your preference and what would you style it with?

I vote burgundy ( or the navy or green version). Absolutely gorgeous and, incidentally, good for creating the impression of boobs, with boobs you'd look like a harlot in it due to the plunge.

And also, if you are 5'2" and a size 10 you are not a 34B, you'll probably be a 30D (I'm the same height and size and the only time I was a 34 back was when I was heavily pregnant and the baby was pushing up and stretching my ribcage, currently a 30FF).

I doubt I'm a D, but fair point. I don't know when I was last measured, if ever!

Yay Green!!!

indisdress · 09/10/2018 20:04

It's arrived. Excuse the crap lighting (bedroom bulb blew and had to stick a 40w in 🙄)

I think with better pants, it's acceptable? It's not cut in a way that shows up my pancake boobs too badly.

It’s gorgeous! You look like a movie star! You’ll knock their socks off!

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 09/10/2018 21:17

Is that green or blue? It looks good but the colour isn't showing

hopingforhappiness · 09/10/2018 21:20

Love it. Fits so nicely.

CaseStudyResearch · 09/10/2018 21:24

Fits you like a dream, it’s gorgeous.

Sadoldbagpuss · 09/10/2018 21:27

Where's it from, I love it.

beeefcake · 09/10/2018 21:31

Colour looks beautiful! Glad you went for green

indisdress · 09/10/2018 21:32

Oh, thank you folks!

It's from Pretty Kitty. And it's the green one. But if I feel good in it, I think I'll buy in it one of the other colours too (for Xmas night out).

Just need to figure out shoes, jacket, etc?

I love it, it looks fantastic!

indisdress · 09/10/2018 23:50

Do you think I need a couple of inches off? My legs look stumpy. (Those ankle straps maybe don't help)

indisdress · 10/10/2018 07:58

Bumping for ideas on what accessories etc to wear with this, and what to do about the length. 🙏

OP posts:
ScarlettDarling · 10/10/2018 08:02

It's gorgeous and it's the perfect length on you. I'd love it myself but at 5'11" it's going to be far too short on me isn't it?

indisdress · 10/10/2018 09:08

I'd say so @ScarlettDarling Sad

Oh thanks OP, you just found my Christmas party dress!

verite · 10/10/2018 09:26

Looks great. But because velvet/velour I think you need less delicate shoes with it. Either a closed toe or a peep toe rather than open sandal. I like the length on you by the way. Midi is still in as far as I am aware and suits the cut of the dress

indisdress · 10/10/2018 10:04

Okay, what about these? Too much green? Would use with a black sparkly clutch.

hopingforhappiness · 10/10/2018 14:32

Ooh, the shoes would pull look together, but I'm still envisioning patent. You'd then be able to wear them with the burgundy one too. (Which you should definitely buy!)
As for the length, I think it gives the dress the right 40/50s vibe. The ankle straps have a shortening effect on your legs, so a different shoe will help.
Regarding a jacket, not sure. The sleeves are a major feature, can you get away without one? Otherwise a bolero style of some description? You could carry that off because you are so petite.

indisdress · 10/10/2018 15:40

Thanks @hopingforhappiness Do you mean black patent?

I was thinking bolero type, or even just a black pashmina with a bit of sparkle, if possible? The whole wedding is in one place, so I'll literally need something for getting on the bus and then back off, and I don't want to spend more than I really have to. (Whereas shoes, I'll get lots of use out of)

OP posts:
hopingforhappiness · 10/10/2018 16:41

Definitely black patent!
I'd just go for a black pashmina at most and blow the budget on shoes and bag.
You're going to look gorgeous.

hopingforhappiness · 10/10/2018 16:42

I wouldn't have sparkle on the wrap/pashmina.

spanishwife · 10/10/2018 16:47

It looks lovely! Don't alter at all, I love the length on you, it's very elegant and chic. I don't think your legs look stumpy at all, they look lovely and slim.

I second the pointy court shoes in dark leather or patent and I would recommend a box bag (mini Audiere) to complete the subtle retro style. Zara and Mango do fantastic designer looking clutch bags for a really good price.

I don't think you even need a wrap, very dated and you've got the sleeves and dress looks thick and warm.

Mustang27 · 10/10/2018 17:01

Wow that dress and shoes are absolutely fierce!!! You are going to look amazing.
