'Trendy' cagoules - do they exist?

ptangyangkipperbang · 13/06/2007 09:43

I'm not convinced a cagoule query should even be in the style section, seems a contradiction in terms but here goes...
I've had to surrender my driving licence for medical reasons so am now doing lots of walking and getting the bus. I need something for all these sudden showers we keep getting but don't want to dress like I'm about to climb Ben Nevis!
I've looked on the Millets site but they're all a bit flowery and 'festival' for me. Any ideas?

I've got a grey nike one that I can keep in the car and dh has a nacy blue reebok one, the girls have some flowery millets ones. I got ours from a sports shop.

ELR · 13/06/2007 10:03

just get a dark cag in a bag nobody will be looking at you when its chucking it down, but yeah you are right style is the wrong section

oliveoil · 13/06/2007 10:04

pac a mac from m&s, maybe a bit lightweight?

MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 10:10

they don't exist

get an umbrella

McDreamy · 13/06/2007 10:10

isn't "trendy cagoule" an oxymoron

ptangyangkipperbang · 13/06/2007 14:32

Should have put this in the AIBU to expect a company to make a trendy cagoule rather than style!

OP posts:
BishyBarneyBee · 13/06/2007 14:35

get wet, umbrella for hair - best option.

BishyBarneyBee · 13/06/2007 14:36

don't get the M+S one - it is vile.

ptangyangkipperbang · 13/06/2007 14:38

Can't really do umbrellas cos holding DS3's hand while carrying shopping bags, getting on buses, etc. Agree M and S one looks type of thing my MIL would wear - not a good recommendation.

BishyBarneyBee · 13/06/2007 14:42

get a good black one from a camping shop that is fitted so you have some shape.

Only wear when completely necessary.

southeastastra · 13/06/2007 14:48

i'd suggest sports shops too. they do thin football training rain jackets if you don't mind the logos

ptangyangkipperbang · 13/06/2007 14:49

Have just looked at Boden (I must be desperate) is this okay or awful? link

OP posts:
ptangyangkipperbang · 13/06/2007 14:50

Have looked again when checking that the link worked and have answered my own question

Am feeling like the woman on Trinny and whats her name last night who wore her husband's clothes. I need a bit of 'femininity' in my wardrobe. Perhaps cagoules aren't a good starting point!

nannyogg · 13/06/2007 15:00

LOL - read the op as 'trendy catalogues'!

Never seen a trendy cagoule I must admit, just had a quick look on regatta and edinburgh woolen mill sites -definitely not trendy but would do the job..!

btw - ptangyangkipperbang - fab name!

MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 15:01

the Great Hooded Waterproof saga has been going on for years - it's very sad.

The closest we've ever found is this one but it is pricey, not especially flattering, (also sold out till next winter, grr), and no good to fold up and sling in bag.

jackie2kids · 13/06/2007 15:02

Just buy a black one.

MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 15:05

MrsSpoon · 13/06/2007 19:09

MrsBadger · 13/06/2007 20:05

cod the land's end one had no hood

otherwise v good

Gingermonkey · 14/06/2007 12:08

those fold away plastic rain hats old ladies wear are very practical. Or just a carrier bag with holes cut out for eyes and nose (obviously don't want to suffocate). Gap sometimes does plain ones that aren't too hideous. What you need is a chauffer, with an umbrella - now we need to decide how you get one...........
