Let’s talk about cardigans

I have literally got 11 black or navy crew neck cardigans in my wardrobe and they are all horrible - they are old and bobbly and I feel frumpy in them.

I’m looking for cardigans I can wear with a t shirt and jeans, and/or with nice shift dresses.

I like the idea of cardigans because I need a warm layer but I just haven’t seen any that I want to buy (except everything in Toast but I don’t think I can afford that.)

I’m looking for nice cardies that are around £50-100 each that won’t look awful when I wash them and have a bit of style. Any ideas?

Ok. I just bought the grey one from Primark for £13 with lovely detail. I bought a dark red one in the same range, they are fitted & look cute with my checked mini or skinny jeans.

The white zip one is from Zara - Chanel style for £29.99.

You can also get basic cardigans from Primark for £5 - £8 or for approx £14 from Dorothy Perkins which don't bobble.

I don't see the point in paying too much as styles do change.

Love a bit of Jigsaw knitwear, and have you tried Wrap or Arket

I found Iggy & Burt on instagram from one of the mums I follow: not sure if they do cardigans but their jumpers are lovely.

Wow! So many things to look at, thanks.

I think I believe they can be stylish, it’s just a case of hunting for style.

I second John Lewis, some M and S, the White Company, Boden, Jigsaw and Hobbs.

I certainly believe they can look stylish, but it depends on your take on ‘style’. If you’re into a more buttoned-up, LK Bennett, skinny jeans, little jacket, wedge trainers type style, then probably not. If you’re more Skandi or layered style, then yes, definitely. I do think they need to be decent quality, well looked after and natural fabrics, though. Invest in a bobble shaver!

I just buy the cotton cardigans for £5 from primark. I wear them with a cami top and skinny trousers for work which suits my job perfectly (teaching assisant). I do have a blazer but it would look daft in my role and it feels much more restrictive then a cardi.

@Sohardtochooseausername that is stunning! Can't beat a soft blazer
