Colour you'd love to wear, but just can't carry off?

For me, it's yellow. I am drawn towards it, especially in summer. So cheery. Just cannot wear it with my colouring.

Also yellow – I'm extremely pale and it makes my face look sort of...greenish. Not good. My sister has olive skin and looks incredible in yellow, orange, scarlet. Not fair!

KathDayKnight50 · 03/10/2018 10:32

I hear you Cherry - paleness is my issue too. Oh, for olive skin! I wanted that colouring so much, especially as a teen.

For me it’s coral, I’d love to wear this especially in spring and summer but it looks awful with my complexion

Dolallytats · 03/10/2018 10:50

Yellow for me as well. I am way too pale (and round) to wear it. It looks gorgeous on people with darker skins...I'm very jealous!

steppemum · 03/10/2018 11:00

bright autumnal colours
orange, red, rust, browns.

I just can't do any of them.

I need dark red, burgundy, purple etc

poppym12 · 03/10/2018 11:21

Red. Would love to find a shade that didn't make me look peculiar.

I'm a 'soft summer' if anyone has any recommendations please.

thedevilinablackdress · 03/10/2018 11:22

Yellow too. And pure white.

oohyoudevilyou · 03/10/2018 11:29

White. Most people look beautifully fresh and serene in white: I look large. And very very pink.

laceygo · 03/10/2018 11:31

I love the colour ochre which is around a lot now (mustardy yellow) but it just drains me

Keeptrudging · 03/10/2018 11:33

Yellow and peach both make me look like I've got the plague.

Schmoochypoos · 03/10/2018 12:34

Tan, ochre and mustard don’t suit me. Im much more suited to bright clear colours

lurkingfromhome · 03/10/2018 12:53

Yes! All those fab autumn colours like mustardy yellow, rich orange, rust, deep red. All hideous on me. Yellow in summer too, but I'm grey and navy all the way (which is fine but you really just fancy a change sometimes, don't you?).

elQuintoConyo · 03/10/2018 13:45

White. I'm pale, blue eyes, white-grey hair. I look like a ghost in white - as a skirt, fine, as a tshirt definitely not. All the talk of a 'crisp white blouse' being a staple of your wardrobe, yeah... no!

I can't wear pale colours up near my face, lilac, baby pink etc, but i don't like them so i'm not too put out. I do have a pale yellow tshirt with butterflies on that really suits me, weirdly.

I look awesome in black. Alas, i have to sticky-roller myself many times before leaving the house as we have a blonde sheddy dog Grin

Redcrayons · 03/10/2018 13:49

Also yellow. I’m not particularly pale-skinned but it never looks right on me, and I’ve tried!

dinkydonky · 03/10/2018 14:01

Another one who can't make yellow work, even mustard (which is the only yellow I really like). It's strange as other 'autumn' colours suit me, I have slightly olive skin, I have a tan jumper that's the most flattering (colour-wise) item I own and I look great in burgundy and dark green, and peach works for me too. But wearing mustard just makes me look really red-faced, its awful

crochetmonkey74 · 03/10/2018 14:25

blush pinks/ eau de nil/ nude - I love these colours but I look like a bloated zombie in them

MarshaBradyo · 03/10/2018 14:26

Without a doubt deep Bordeaux plum colours

I love them but they don’t go with my fair complexion at all

DonDrapersOldFashioned · 03/10/2018 14:27

Mustard, I look jaundiced if it’s near my face. I can get away with tights though.

Bloobs · 03/10/2018 14:54

Blue - I can't wear it on my top half at all. And I don't actually like it. But I wish I did because it would roughly double my options! So many items come in mainly blues or just blue and it really annoys me.

On the plus side, I'm the person that wears all the yellow :o love it!

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 03/10/2018 15:10

Mustard or beige. It's just not happening, I look like I've just vomited 🤮

NonaGrey · 03/10/2018 15:26

Pearl grey.

I gaze with sad longing at gorgeous pearl grey knitwear in shops. So beautiful, so classic, so chic.

It can never be mine Sad it makes me look like I’m about to faint.

I can’t wear most shades of green either but it doesn’t make me as wistful as the lack of pearl grey cashmere in my life. I can get away with charcoal but it’s not the same. SadGrin

Bluntness100 · 03/10/2018 15:30

Red, I could get away with it because of my colouring, I just feel really like I stand out a lot, so don't wear it. And white. It simply doesn't work with my skin tone.

MinaPaws · 03/10/2018 15:33

I'd love to wear black sometimes. I used to a lot in my youth but now it turns my skin grey. I look ten years older if I wear it, and five years younger if I wear white.

MawkishTwaddle · 03/10/2018 15:42

Yup. Yellow. Love that seventies mustard that's around everywhere at the moment. Sadly it makes me look like a corpse.

WrongSideOfHistory · 03/10/2018 19:13

Mustard. Despite being an autumn I look awful in it.
Pale blue - I love it but it does nothing for me
