Chelsea boots

I need new flat boots, my last lovely ones have finally died, )I bought them when DD was born, she's now in yr 5!!)

I'm thinking about getting Chelsea boots, any recommendations, I'm looking for brown, flat, good soles that will last. I'm happy to spend up to £150. Or is there another style of flat book that I should be looking at as it's more up to date. If it helps, I'm mid 40s, short and round.

I couldn't decide so I've ordered the Barbour ones, the Dune, the John Lewis and the Sainsburys and I'll try them all at home.

If anyone wants the Barbour ones, I bought them from somewhere called Chelford Farm Supplies based in Maccelsfield. They were £99, and gave you a 10% discount if you were a new customer and signed up for their mailing list, so fingers crossed.

Oh, I was going to suggest the Orinoco boots from Clarke’s. They’re fabulously comfortable, I’m now on my fifth pair.

LOVE the Barbour boots, they arrived today and they're just perfect!

BangingOn · 19/09/2018 18:08

I’m so glad you like them! I’m tempted to get them in a third colour now...

Barbayagar · 20/09/2018 21:30

They're just what I wanted! Now what other colours do they come in?

Judydreamsofhorses · 20/09/2018 21:49

People who have the Barbour boots, how are they width-wise? I really like the look of them but my small, wide feet are often hard to clad.

TapStepBallChange · 20/09/2018 22:04

I tried those Clarks Orinoco ones on in the shop, I really liked them, but they come up quite high and I was struggling to get my foot it, they felt like they'd be a faff, but I did like the look of them

Tomorrow and Saturday are parcel collection days so I can try all the boots on.

I have Chelsea boots from Hudson, grenson and sainsburys. The Hudson can be slippy underfoot, the leather sole on the grenson makes them unsuitable in wet weather although I love how they look, but the sainsburys get the most wear. On my second pair. Great value esp on 25% off weekends.

Diggingmywayout · 21/09/2018 11:29

brogueish, please could you link to the Sainsbury's boots?

TapStepBallChange · 24/09/2018 19:39

They've all arrived. Barbour - comfiest, but not v smart; John Lewis - seriously narrow, looked fab, but crushed the balls of my feet, Dune - OK, comfy. Sainsbury - comfy, look more expensive than they are. I think I'm going to keep the Sainsburys and Barbour, they are different enough and I'll wear them both

Bit annoyed with my Barbours. I love them, they're comfy, but I got them in wine and worn them once and they are all scuffed on the toe.

Tigresswoods · 24/09/2018 19:58

Fat Face.

Got the silver/grey ones a year ago. Just got the brown ones now.

Not waterproof but lovely.

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/09/2018 20:06

The Clarks Orinocos are a bit stiff the first couple of wears but then they go so soft and supple, honestly they’re like slippers and they just glide on and off. I love Chelsea boots, I can’t be faffing around with buckles and laces. Grin

NotPennysBoat · 24/09/2018 20:24

Which Sainsburys ones did you go for @TapStepBallChange?

They’re the ones I have. I love them and they definitely do look more expensive when they’re on.
