Need to find a nice dress for my in laws 50th wedding at a posh hotel, canapes on the lawn, dinner etc. Fancying something floaty and pretty. The do is in August, fairly posh but would like a dress I can wear again. Am a size 16, curvy, big norks and I really hate my upper arms so can't do sleeveless. Also can't do that bias cut type thing as I am short waisted and end up with the fabric sort of bunching up on my bum. Like quite bright colours, purple, turquoise etc. Quite like swirly prints. Also like black and white. So - any ideas oh style gurus?? Budget probably up to 80 pound ish.

Monsoon have some nice silk numbers not on their website in store, might be worth a look as atleast coold and fresh to wear in high summer, and of course elegant

Peachy · 09/06/2007 14:57

demure yet elegant and easy to wear a good solid bra underneath. Would look fab with a wrap over, but not floty whilst this covers the floaty angle?

boomie · 09/06/2007 14:58

How about this

boomie · 09/06/2007 15:00

Hi all just got chance to look at the thread, thanks so much some great ideas. Quite liking the bright tropical monsoon one - nice and summery, the first one is pretty but perhaps a bit girly for me with the frill - am 40 this year. Also like the turquise long sleeved job. Prefer longer length as also have varicose veins - oh the joys of ageing! Looks like monsoon would be the place to go - off to the shops for me!

Just showed DH the tropical one and he said it looked like an old lady dress! He does like the swirly one though.

Hi - have tried their tops but not the dresses. Like the print one but alas a bit short. Are wrap dresses still okay or a bit boring/passe now I wonder?
